i was thinking this too. i like warrick with that 2nd unit, which is btw very much improved from last year with dragic, dudley, childress, warrick, and frye, but i think the starting lineup might flow better with warrick in there as well.

it's still too early to really know what we got yet... but i really like the additions of childress, warrick, and lawal. i can't decide on Hedo yet.

(in before the lock).

Dragic has to assert himself more. He has to come out and be the leader of that 2nd unit.

I'll just merge this to the sticky, it'll actually fit in quite nicely

EC and Gani seem to have really good chemistry. EC hit him with 2 very nice passes for easy looks. One turned into free throws and one turned into that manly jam. Clark's offense just didn't happen due to the 3 pg ball hog a rama. I really liked what I saw tonight from those 2

Here are my thoughts on what I saw tonight:

Liked what I saw from Nash, Richardson, Lopez, Hill, Warrick, Gani off the bench

Hedo is still getting acclimated to what his role on this team is going to be. I wonder if starting Warrick might be a smarter idea and let his stats get inflated via Nash. Turkoglu seems like he'd do better maybe being the focal point of the offense off the bench with Dragic Childress Dudley and Frye.

I don't know how much I buy into the idea of having Nash shoot off the ball. As you guys might have noticed Nash loses his strength on his shot when he's not shooting off the move. When Nash is shooting off the dribble on the pullup awkwardly off one foot he's automatic. When he stands still it seems as if his shots fall just short.

I liked our D tonight denying the penetration by the guards. Our pick and roll d can still use work. I like the second unit's d and hustle.

I liked how J rich was scoring in a variety of ways and his ball handling seems a little better. dudley seems comfortable getting those jump shots off one dribble and pulling up.

I"M disappointed with Dragic so far. He looks bad on offense he needs work on his jump shot. He was creating a little bit but I have not been pleased with his play so far.

Overall good win so let's build off it!

Id rather keep starting Hedo we don't need to hurt his ego and Warrick's scoring will be useful on that second unit

Yeah it will be. I hope Dragic improves his shooting. Hedo will be fine when he gets his rhythm and flow in this system.

I think adding Dampier might be a solid idea for rebounding we need help on the boards.

It was only a short time but I saw it too. EC seems better as a middle man than a finisher and shot creator. Someone who gets into the middle of the play and makes the extra pass. Diaw did that a lot when he was still playing well. Nash would start off a play and the ball would go to Diaw and then he would make that extra money pass. Made us damn near unaffordable since we have two players, one in the perimeter and one in the post who could pass almost as well as each other. EC has that potential since he's got nice court vision, good passing abilities and he's also got decent handles for his size.

Watching those 3 "PG's" today made me face palm after face palm. They don't seem to know what to do when they have the ball except shoot or try to break down their defender to go nowhere with no purpose. What's more annoying is that Dragic didn't exactly step up either.

Agreed pretty much. I don't think Hedo and Nash should play that much together. Hedo needs the ball, otherwise he becomes a spot up shooter with Nash in there.

The thing is, I think we'd be a more effective team with nash being the ballhandler most of the time(while he's on the floor) and him having a pick and roll guy who can really finish around the hoop assertively. Thats Warrick all the way. Hedo can't do that. Nash off the ball as a shooter isn't sounding too good either. Also when you factor in that Dragic is sorta struggling at running the offense with the bench squad(and he's imo a better scorer than distributor), I think that will give hedo his chance to really run the offense and be effective. Hedo can be the facilitator with Frye, dudley, childress and dragic around him, I really like that bench. Hedo gets to do what he's really good at.He can get alot of minutes there as well. Question of whether or not he'll flip out about being the on the bench though.

The things I got from the game were, Hedo is still lost as to how to fit in, but its still very early. I think if Hedo looks at Frye's second half, he can kinda see his role. Our ofense is starting to gel, and the bench is obviously deep. About midway through the second with Warrick in the lineup with the starters minus Hedo, WE LOOKED LIKE PHX. OF OLD, and startred a push to take control of the game running and gunning. If it wouldnt hurt his ego, Warrick would be my starter, but like has been said, its still early. Hedo still could wow us, and Warrick could still piss us off. Channing was back, Lawal looked ok, Childress is so promising, Duds and Dragic will do thier thing no worries, and in terms of having a athletic last guard off the bench, Dowdell's on ball defense was really good, dude is an athlete, just needs to learn better team ball. I would take Dowdell over Janning for that reason only right now, because we have people who can score in bunches, but defense is lacking.

I liked Clark's passing, and all of our guys were looking for the open ma. A good sign

Portland can't keep their players healthy. They are like the new Clippers.
