Saints/Pats Swap Picks?

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 4:54 pm

From another forum.

Local sports talk is saying that Schefter is reporting that the Saints and Patriots are "very close" to agreeing to a deal that would result in swapping 1st round picks. If true, are the Saints assuming that Ellis is available at #7.

Must mean the pats are not high on ellis. And think they can get rivers at 10.

I would like this, buy only do it if ellis is the only player there. Don't make the deal now, it would be stupid, then maybe ghoulston falls, for whatever reason, and you wanted him.

the patriots are not high on USCs ellis, because they are high on USCs rivers!

the need for the patriots is at linebacker, with the aging group they have. i would also add in the Dbackfield, but they can address that later. but the key is, rivers will be there at 10, and they can get some other "stuff" from the saints. whether picks or whatever else. and at 10, still be in position for rivers. and a guy who runs 4.5 and has a 30+ vert, and is the best linebacker in the draft, would be perfect for their future. and paying him #10 money, is better than paying #7 money. which falls in line with the patriots payment scheme of paying low.

thats a win-win. the saints go to the superbowl with reggie bush and sedrick ellis. while the patriots have a long time backer who can make a career in new england. he can replace a retiring USC player in jr. seau. or jr. can play side by side with him, and they can kick ass!

Another great move by the Pats. The got the player they wanted but they probably wanted to trade down more. Bill will make that Linebacker a stud
