Re: Overrated Teams
Milwaukee is going to be a very dangerous team this year, IF:
1) Bogut stays healthy...hasn't happened yet
2) Gooden and Maggette learn to share and play defense...hasn't happened yet
3) Skiles can keep his team's trust for 3rd year...hasn't happened yet
All are very possible, and guys like Jennings and Ilyasova, could easily become great players. Add wildcards of Salmons, Sanders and Redd...just too much potential not be worried about.
OKC has arguably the best player in the NBA, and that should be enough, but add in Green and Westbrook as solid starters...there are no questions about them being scary.

Re: Overrated Teams
Teams that disappoint are often ones that get unexpected injuries. So far it's the Lakers that appear vulnerable in that department. Even so, it doesn't look like anyone will seriously get in their way until the Finals.
Denver could implode depending on the outcome of the Carmelo situation. Phoenix has to decline since they way overachieved last season. I don't think either of these teams is overrated though.
As far as the teams mentioned:
Milwaukee will be fine as long as Bogut is ok.
OKC is young and talented and they've got Durant. No problems there.
Orlando is just as good as last season, and that's very good. Howard is a mismatch for the vast majority of games.
Boston has enough depth in the frontcourt to rest their big guys. They've added low post offense. Garnett's healthy again; that improves the defense. As long as Pierce and Ray Allen don't slip, they'll be better than last season.

Oh in that case, one thread changes everything.
Nobody's overrating the Knicks outside of their own fanbase, which has to be expected. I don't blame their fans for being excited. Things are certainly better than they've been in a long-time going into a season.

Re: Overrated Teams
None of those teams are overrated. If anything, OKC is UNDERRATED. I could see OKC getting to the WCF this year, just look at how weak the west is now.
A more accurate list would be something like: Mavs, Spurs, Jazz, etc.

I don't know. The consensus seems to be that the Durant era will begin this season, and he'll win MVP. Which would probably indicate the Thunder are going to be pretty damn good. I still think they need a legit #2 to step up consistently this season in either Westbrook, Green or Harden.
The Jazz aren't overrated, nobody's talking about them. Ditto for the Spurs.

Felton In Duhon Out - Medium Upgrade
Azubuike In House Out - Medium Upgrade
Randolph/Turiaf In Harrington Out - Draw
Amare In Lee Out - Small Upgrade
Is this team really that much better with a better Eastern Conference? I think this team ends up with 30
The team traded away this years pick which I think is going to end up being a steal for the Rockets and once again a major loss for the Knicks.
This team keeps making mistakes. Of course Isiah was much worse, but they traded their picks for Lebron, ended up with Amare when they could have just kept Jeffries, Hill, and all their picks. They completely ignore that was yet another major mistake in this joke of an organization.
Bingo wait for the game when Felton has a monster game out the first 30, the Knicks posters are going to being saying that Felton is the better then Rose. The Knicks over paid for Amare 100 mil but yet he is going to lame up on the Knicks then you have Gallo the next Dirk who is going to suck doney balls this year.

The Spurs are ALWAYS overrated by the NBA analyst contingent. I guarantee you they will be penciling in the Spurs as a top WC team as the season rolls around.
You might be right about Utah though, time will tell.

Well you asked who and they overrate their team more than the rest of the fanbases.

Char. is a team I didn't think about-I'm not sure where "experts" have them, but they could drop back to 30 wins or so, and for a while (great for us). They have no real young talent, LBrown has a track record of losing interest and MJ will keep the purse strings tight. Who is their point guard?

Almost everyone is saying that OKC is all of a sudden the #2 team in the West. They were the 8th seed last year and didn't do a whole lot to get better besides adding Daequan Cook and Cole Aldrich. That is why they are overrated. Being the #2 team in the West aint easy.
The Jazz? Overrated? I haven't seen anyone picking them in the West even though they added Al Jefferson, who when healthy is a 20 ppg, 11 rpg guy and now he is playing alongside the best PG in the game in Deron Williams? Wow, if they can gel the way Deron and Boozer did then they should be a very danergous team.

Every team's fanbase is guilty of overrating their own team. But what large group outside of NY is picking the Knicks to do anything more than make the playoffs?

Re: Overrated Teams
pipfan's recent posts show he's out to shock the board.
i will agree in a specific way with some of these. for instance, Orlando will pile wins this year, but they are the classic dregs-beaters. With that unimaginative offense, they will simply alternate between throwing it in to Howard and firing from the outside.
In a playoff series, the games you can't hit your three you flat out lose.
And the Boston one is valid, just in the sense that if two of the big three show their age (finally) they are significantly worse.

Re: Overrated Teams
I think the team that is most likely to have a dip is OKC. Besides Durant their team isn't all that good or deep. I think they have a drop off, and it will be up to Durant to keep their heads above water to sneak them into the playoffs. Fortunately for them the West has become a little weaker, but I still think they drop off in win totals from what they were last year.
Because of my projected drop off in wins, though Durant gets contention for MVP, he likely won't get it until OKC becomes more legit in regards to the possibility of winning a title.

Why so serious?
