Around the NHL

Post#1 » by trwi7 » Thu Oct 7, 2010 4:07 am

The season kicks off in 12 hours when the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Minnesota Wild in Helsinki, Finland.

Other games tomorrow.

The oldest and one of, if not the best rivalry in the NHL kicks off the season as the Montreal Canadiens travel to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs.

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks head to the Rockies to take on the Colorado Avalanche.

The Battle of Alberta as the Calgary Flames travel to Edmonton to face the Oilers.

And the Battle of Pennsylvania as the defending Eastern Conference Champion Philadelphia Flyers head to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins in their brand new arena, the Consol Energy Center.

Have I mentioned how much I hate taking away home games from teams by having them playing in foreign countries? That goes for any sport.

Leafs are a stronger team, but I still don't think they make the playoffs. Just not enough scoring overall. Giggy was in 03 mode tonight too.

Habs fans are going to jump all over Price, but the only goal I think he could've had back was MacArthur's. His save on Kessel near the end was just as ridiculous as Giggy's last minute pad.

Its always nice to see the Oilers beat up on the Flames. Eberle had a amazing game and MacIntyre knocked Ivanans out cold.

Yeah the Oilers have some fun young guys to watch. That team will be kind of exciting this year

Ondrej Pavelec collapsed during the game today. ****ing scary to watch. They said he didn't move so I hope it doesn't have anything to do with his heart but you never know.

I'm told Pavelec regained consciousness.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

I would like to extend a thank you to Radim Vrbata. You were the first player on my fantasy hockey team who wasn't completely useless.

I just wanted to say Corey Perry is now officially my least favorite player in the NHL. **** him

Dropping the gloves with Datsyuk? Really dude? Was Lidstrom unavailable? Modano didn't wanna brawl? Hell why not take on Howard next time, or maybe Ozzie wants a go

Seriously Perry is such a little bitch. Try and fight an actual tough guy next time instead of taking on a Lady Bing winner and a guy with 0 career fights (i think). I love what Detroit does but man do i miss the days when we had the meanest, toughest mofos in the league; Kocur, Probert, Grimson, McCarty...*sigh*

Pavel held his own against him, the guy has heart. He took on the baddest mofo and showed him he wasn't scared and didn't back down. BTW Pavel had 1 previous fight so he's at a whopping 2 lets see in 8 more years he will be at 3.

I like our chances this year hope the Leafs fall hard on their asses sick of hearing local media hype them as a cup contender lets face facts your a 8 seed on a good day in the East. I think you finish up with maybe 70 points and that should be a great season in your eyes

Just at the IceHogs game featuring Stanley Cup, Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe Trophy and Campbell Bowl. I kissed the Cup.
