Prediction - which wing player gets traded?

Post#1 » by chube » Wed Oct 6, 2010 7:24 pm

There's the big article on the front page of the wiretap that says that Indy is open to trading a wing player. So which one do you think gets traded?

I'd like to see Brandon Rush or James Posey be traded. Posey because he's too expensive to be a benchwarmer and has a little bit of value, and Rush because of his inconsistency (and the failed drug test doesn't help.) Dahntay Jones also seemed to be in the doghouse last year (who wasn't though?) so I figure he's a possibility too. I'd like to keep him because his offensive production improved from when he was in Denver...now if only he could get that defensive mentality back. I'm not real high on Dunleavy but I'd either like to trade him later when he might have some more value or let him walk and have some cap space next summer. I get the feeling any upcoming trade won't be to majorly shake up the roster, but solely to get down to 15 players.

And since it has to be a two-for-one, can we assume that Solomon Jones would be the extra guy leaving?

honestly I would part with anyone other than Granger and George for the right price. however, I doubt we will get what we want for any of these = young PF with potential.

Dunleavey is in last year of contract so could be valuable to teams looking to shed cap space next year. Other than that, vet team might want a Posey or D Jones, and maybe there is a team still high on Rush?

Carl Landry may be traded this year- and they would like a wing who could play some starters minutes: maybe something could be worked out for Dun +? That would be sweet.
Otherwise, if we're just creating space, I'd like to move either Rush or D Jones and S Jones.
I'm hoping that either Stephenson or George will grow into a starting 2.

I'm hoping it is a Jones. D is first choice with S second. I have hopes that Posey can do for this team what Byron Scott did for the team of the 90's: be the locker room voice that explains what it takes to win rings.

It will be depend of the contract of the player they trade for... if it's a big contract, maybe Posey and Ford (of Dunleavy). And if it's a smaller contract, maybe Rush or Jones... They only important thing is the Pacers must find a true starting PF. Who could be available?

Mike Wells suggested Lance Allard will get cut at end of camp and we could do a 2 for 1.... so, it could even be two. Jones + Rush or something. I think it'll be Rush for sure, if he's packaged or not remains to be seen. I think they may look for a Rush + Ford package again as they almost pulled off last deadline day, this time, we're more flexible to acquire whatever. Last time we tangled Rush/Ford in a deal we could only afford to do it if we received a point guard in return, now we have more options.

Rush was so inconsistent last season and will be fined by 5 games due to the failing drug test. I don't think there's any other team would want him if the Pacers would give up their lottery pick player to some 2nd round picks, like they did to Shawne Williams.

On the other hand, Dahntay Jones, who can play good defense, is most possible guy being traded. The Celtics would love to take him as a back-up SF, but can't because they don't have the assets for us to do the two for one trade or any trade exception.

Ford, with his expiring contract, is not too hard to be traded. But now he's injured. I doubt the Pacers can easily trade him, unless we add some more values like draft picks.

Posey has no market, though I think we'd like to cut his salary for next year.

Lance could possibly go, if his legal issues worry the front office. Otherwise, Brandon Rush is likely the easiest to move (2 2nd rounders could probably net him), though I think Dahntay might be a guy that they would like to move.

Realistically, it's either Rush or Dahntay. Both are solid defenders, if nothing else. However, Rush can at least hit the 3 with some reliability.

Trade Dahntay. We're a young team now, we don't need anymore crap.

He's getting to the thirty mark, I don't like the thirty mark. Jones was a great defender in Denver, not so sure about him in Indiana.

Rush probably has some value. I'm not sure Dantahy, Solomon or Posey have enough value bring anything of use back in return. The Same goes for TJ Ford. If I had to predict today I'd say Solomon gets bought out and all the wings stay.

I'm not sure we need anything of use in return at this point. I think we'd be happy if a team under the cap - are there still a few? - took someone we'd otherwise have to cut regardless of what if anything we got back.

I agree. The problem with Posey and Ford is they make too much money for the production you can reasonably expect. Dahanty's contract is too long. Someone could experience injuries that could make one of these three attractive later in the season. Moving one of them now would be a really tall oreder.

Rush didn't play last night and got very little run in the first game. Makes you wonder where the Pacers are going with him?

Dahntay's being paid less than Hansbrough. I don't think his salary length is the issue when it's not very robus. He's not fitting in the system and he's a little older and he's the odd man out. I think it's a shame because I loved his contributions last season.

Dahntay makes about $600 grand more than Tyler each of the next 2 years.

I forgot about the AT&T commercials. Apparently, Tyler makes money by helping little girls find their lost puppy dogs, as well.

He's quite the entrepreneur, I'd be worried about losing him early to Big Business.
