Yes, and that leads into the comment I made in my first post about them. OJ hasn't fully tapped into his talents, while Rudy is pretty much who he is by now.
I agree that the Grizzlies will need for OJ to "break out" in order for them to see success (playoffs) in the future, but I definitely disagree that there's any sort of negative tension between OJ and Rudy. They get along well. Also, FWIW, I think Marc's development is just as important as OJ's.
There have been rare cases where OJ and Rudy bitch at each other when things aren't going well, but that's happened like twice (over the course of 150) games. And it didn't really affect the team's play or send it into a negative spiral. Believe me, they're fine. Both those guys are definitely competitive, which I think is healthy and a good sign.
There are plenty of touches available to both of those guys. It's really not a competition between the two of them when it comes to getting the ball and/or shots. There might be competition to see who "the man" is, but that aspect of the competition hasn't manifested itself negatively. OJ makes an effort to play within the system and so does Rudy.
Also, regardless of contract size, Rudy hasn't really been the go to guy for the Grizzlies. Maybe he was in OJ's rookie season, but last year it was really a total team effort. Rudy will
occasionally go off and chuck a few shots, but for the most part they all stay within the offense. The starting five also like to share the ball. They aren't great at it, but they definitely make the effort.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing this Grizzlies team grow.
The starting five play very well together and the only way I see there being any future awkwardness is when it comes time to pay Marc/OJ/Zbo their money (since Rudy got
paid).
