Chris Sheridan article on the Prudential Center

Post#1 » by Revolutionistt » Mon Oct 11, 2010 3:22 pm

How can something like this be allowed to be published? Especially for ESPN? The guy straight up bashes the place and sends a warning to Carmelo Anthony not to play here. Journalism as a whole is going downhill, but this is ridiculous. Shouldnt ESPN be publishing articles about actual sports events and not one writers opinion about an arena and telling someone they shouldnt play there?? We should send a petition to ESPN to get Chris Sheridan fired!! Well, at the very least this article taken down.

Wow.
Honestly, no offense, I thought it was going to be bad, but a case of you overreacting.
It wasn't.
That was disgusting.
Such bull$hit too. Half the stuff he brings up is the same league round but he tries to make it seem like only here.
Half the stuff is just pure hate, venom.
How can a nartional media source like ESPN be allowed to write an opinionated, lie filled, personal attack on a franchise, owner and fanbase and to a lesser extent, the entire league?!
Seriously, that's some $hit.
I think that maybe worse and more offensive then that garbage written by the RealGM Knix writer a couple weeks ago.

Seriously going to write an email to ESPN calling for this period bags head.

Just sent this to ESPN, it had a 1000 character limit, so I had to cut it short...

I am writing to you in response to this so called journalistic drivel that your hack author Chris Sheridan has spewed all over the internet with all the subtlety of a car jacking.
It's nothing more than an opinionated, lie filled, exaggerated, venomous attack on a franchise, fan base and even the entire NBA.
It reminds me of a biased rant a poster on a website such as RealGM would submit on the Knicks Team Board, or something that would be posted on a low traffic Knicks blog with the purpose of drawing attention to said blog to increase traffic and get a buzz.
I am baffled as to how you can allow such a "piece" to be posted on your worldwide famous site.
How did it get past editors?
Or has Sheridan free reign and no accountability?
This "article" was flat out offensive and disrespectful to the Nets fan base, who although admittedly smaller then many, makes up an enormous chunk of the NY area ESPN readers.
This cannot go without repercussion.
I feel Sheridan needs to be suspended or fired.

I suggest you all do the same. Powers in #'s, if a large amount of people write in to complain about this ESPN will almost have no choice but to take action against Chris Sheridan in some form or another and even if he doesn't get suspended, the article would likely be pulled and there would be increased future scrutiny on him by his editors, or including his editors if they OK'ed that "article".

Let him feel the heat so to speak. Again, even if no major action is taken against him, which I doubt would be, it could at least limit his freedom in the future and make his job a little more joyless and tedious if he is forced to curve his severe bias and untamed homerism.

That really was worse then that Knick fan realgm blog. Atleast that one that some logic in it, be it delusional Nix logic, but still.

This article has none of it. Dear Melo dont come to the Nets because they will make you practice in Siberia......whaaattt....thheee....fuuuccckkk?

...Because the arena is cold? Its called a thermostat idiot!
...Because the crowd noise is recorded? Welcome to american sports ****.
...Because noone is covering the Nets trip to Russia? ehhh WRONG.

Thats basically it for his reasoning, the whole article is based around that. Its cold, announcer is too loud ohh and there was a section of the upper rows covered up during a pre-season game......seriously....wtf? Was this dude just facing a 6am deadline and got home at 5 after a night of heavy partying? One of the worst articles EVER, or any subject.

Well, at least Carmelo won't have rats in his locker room locker if he goes to the Nets. He'll probably have bed bugs if he plays for the Knicks, however, so there's a win for the Nets!

Done.

I sent an e-mail and posted on another board to do the same.

I'll also tell some others to do so.

LoL what a trash of an article. I wonder if Sheridan has seen , much less step foot, in Prokorov's personal jet yet?

I am writing in regards to the Chris Sheridan article entitled “Dear Melo: A postcard from Purgatory,” which amounts to nothing more than an inflammatory, biased attack against an entire fan base and countless of ESPN readers/watchers. While ESPN is known for their Sportscenter telecasts and award winning shows, I feel that ESPN should also be the paramount entity in sports journalism, not an entity which spews the kind of lack of integrity articles that Chris Sheridan has written about in regards to the New Jersey Nets. As a fan, I am offended, and as a human being, I am appalled that such an article could escape the editing room like Sheridan’s has. While my readership may not be important in regard to ESPN numbers, I assure that I will not continue to show my support for ESPN if Chris Sheridan’s article is not redacted or modified to the show the integrity that an ESPN piece should have, and I am confident that I will not be the only person who takes such actions.

Thank you.

Heres mine.

I'm writing in an attempt to express my complete disgust and outrage at a recent article by Mr. Sheridan. I was appalled by such a baseless and tactless peace. Its very disappointing that an irrational, hate filled attack on the Nets organization, the city of Newark and worst of all the fans, was allowed to be published on a respected and world famous site such as ESPN. It read like an amateur blog entry by an upset and unstable fan. "Melo, dont come to NJ because they will make you have training camp in Siberia"? Its not the criticism that bothers me, its that its completely inaccurate, random and done with a complete lack of integrity. I would strongly advise Mr. Sheridan write a retraction and apologize. At the very least, he should revise his article to include some actual research to back up his reasoning, something with a little more substance then "its cold there". Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint, I sincerely hope the article will be pulled off the site.

We should find a way to get this to Yormark. Despite his disdain for Thorn, he'd find a way to deal with this.

Appalled...

I really cant wait to read how the Nets, The Prudential Center and the City of Newark sued ESPN for Libel...this is clearly an attack on a NBA team, their arena and the city where they play...If this is some how above legal action, I'd be truly surprised, if this doesn't cause any backlash on ESPN and the 2 dollar whore of a writer who wrote this trash...

Someone with Twitter should hit up Beadle too...wonder how she would feel about this.

Btw, 82 comments currently on that article. 1 giving credit for it (obvious knick homer), didnt count exactly how many but roughly 4-5 just talking about Melo situation in general, everything else completely negative. Doesn't sound like its mostly Nets fans either.

Actually that's a great idea to bring this to Michelle Beadle's attention in a public forum.

Someone with a Twitter account please do it, I don't feel like creating an account just for this.

Tweeted Beadle and Al.

I'm even sort of curious how the Nix board would react to this article. Surprised i see no mention of it there.

It's briefly brought up in the Official Melo Thread.
It was actually mainly ignored, I think even most of them knew it was so god awfully terrible it would make you look like an ass just laughing at it.

Anyone get a response from ESPN? I got an email this morning that my message was being passed to the appropriate personnel for review and consideration. Hopefully that means its going to the editor of the column.

I sure hope it does.
