Is Wall A Lock For ROY?

Everyone seems to assume this and I still pick him but he's going to have a hard fight with 2 guys in particular. Cousins looks very good and has been beasting cats. I think everyone was aware of him but the 1 guy everyone keeps forgetting about is Griffin. He's still up for the award since he didnt play last year and he looks like a man child out there. This will be a great 3 headed race all year but it should be Wall's to lose

I agree that Griffin, Wall and Cousins look like the main contenders for rookie of the year. They all could easily be good players this year like Evans, Curry and Jennings were last year.

I think Monroe and Wesley Johnson could be the dark horses. They likely will be playing on teams that will likely be able to play them heavy minutes.

Did you see that wire tap story? Johnson is fighting to be in the line-up as SG. I thought they drafted him to be their SF??? I have been following WJ and he has been putting -up nice numbers in limited minutes.

Nobody looks at efficiency, turnovers or minutes played when evaluating the ROY. They're just going to look at aggregate points, rebounds and assists. Wall should do well in all categories.

I think Cousins will have trouble playing enough minutes to be in serious contention for ROY. His per-minute numbers and PER may be the best of the rookie class, but foul trouble is going to limit him to 25 minutes a game or so. Griffin will probably play 30+ and Wall will probably play 35+. Wall is the frontrunner based on playing time alone but Griffin has a real shot too (if he can stay healthy).

I don't see anyone challenging the big 3, but it'll be fun to see if someone steps up to that level. My guess is 1-Wall, 2-Griffin, and 3-Cousins. Turner will lead the league in "turnerovers", and Favors just ain't ready. I think it was Glen Consor who I heard saying a poll of NBA front office execs voted 80% for Wall as their preseason guess for ROY.

wall will get all the minutes he needs

while it's probably going too far to call him
a lock, let's say it's his to lose. Especially
after 'leading the team' back to the playoffs.

but Griffin and Cousins will be in the mix

He probably will start off a lot slower, but I think he should be able to get minutes as the season goes on. SG is probably his best shot at starters minutes. Ellington looks like Foye 2.0 and I don't think Brewer is the answer at SG. I think Johnson also gets some minutes at SF when Love or Beasley is on the bench(or they go small ball).

Season has yet to start and just because he is the #1 overall does not mean he is a lock. Blake Griffin has good as a chance as Wall.

Griffin looks like he could get it if he stays healthy. Griffin is playing like an all star in preseason--dominating everyone he goes against. I think the Clippers will be a whole lot better and their improved win totals might give Griffin ROY.

I also think Wesley Johnson's a darkhorse. He has really hit the three well and he's a stat stuffer.

I don't think Cousins will avoid fouls enough, but if he does he's in the running.

Wall would have to be the favorite as a high-profile PG, but I think Griffin will win it if Blake stays healthy.
