No one WR/TE is extremely important. I think if you take out Jennings or Finley, Rodgers can still throw for 4000+ yards and 25+ TDs easily.

I think Matthews is our only elite or near elite pass rusher, so he comes in second for me. I think Jenkins is the best pass rusher on the line so he comes in third. Losing either of these guys has a huge impact on us getting to the QB, IMO.

Then after that it is the two Pro Bowl guys in the secondary.

I can understand putting Matthews second given how very questionable the rest of the linebackers are as pass rushers, but i think we could clearly survive better if we lost Jenkins compared to losing either Woodson or Collins.

With Harris potentially heading for the PUP list, you take Woodson from the team, we could be looking at our starting corners being Williams and who knows right now given the struggles of both Underwood and Lee. Man that would be ugly. At safety, if Collins was removed, we'd be starting a rookie safety and probably Martin. An equally terrifying thought to losing Woodson.

Obviously the one guy we can least afford to get a significant injury is Rodgers. That said, our depth looks so poor right now at OLB, CB, and S that an injury to any of Woodson, Matthews, and Collins would likely be devastating.

Was bumping this thread due to injuries. So far, we've only lost one of our top 5 most indispensable (Finley), but two others are banged up (Rodgers and Matthews) and there is zero depth at any position on D.

This thread jinxed our season...thanks Luke.

And how ironic is it that most of this thread was arguing about if Finley got hurt and how good Lee would be as his replacement...and they both get hurt.

Matthews tops the list for me and it's not even close

The chaos he creates trickles through the whole defense. Without him, we are a 3-4 defense with zero good pass rushing linebackers. Has that ever been the case for a 3-4 defense where none of their linebackers were good pass rushers, even after a good pass rushing LB got hurt?

I wouldn't have said it before the season but I pretty much agree Dude,Matthews is like a one man gang out there.

I'd still have a hard time putting him ahead of Rodgers though.

Matthews would be a clear #2 on this list or #1b.

I didn't mean Matthews above Rodgers, no player on an NFL roster is more important than a franchise QB.

That said, Matthews is the Rodgers of our defense when it comes to importance.

Raji should be getting more love. A good NT in a 3-4 scheme is really key.

Rodgers
Matthews
Woodson
Collins
Raji
Finley/Jennings
