NBA 2K11

Post#1 » by villatrynity154 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 5:56 pm

have you guys bought it and played with the kings?

i have and in the association i created my team is doing real well....i'm used to playing @ the allstar level, but i've been playing at pro since the game is significantly harder, and alot of the passes are picked off easier. however, i did some trades to the team i traded away landry and dalembert to boston for jermaine o'neal and traded beno to the lakers for sasha vujacic and let me tell you the kings have been playing great in my association!!!! i have a starting lineup of:

tyreke 36/garcia 12
garcia 10/vujacic 17/greene 21
casspi 31/greene 10/garcia 7
thompson 31/o'neal 8/cousins 5/whiteside 4
cousins 29/o'neal 12/whiteside 7

minutes may vary depending on who i need on the court depending on what team i'm playing at the time but overall the rotation looks sort of like that the way i sub my players in i'm never not competitive, i always find a way to take advantage of my matchups as i play with the defense alot (i move who's defending who depending on who's on the court for the opposition), and i think man to man this team can defend w/ anyone in the league (except for some reason dallas...).

my 9 man rotation is helping me lead the league in FG% and i'm 3rd in rebounds, 1st in blocks, 4th in assists....i'm scoring 103.4 pts per game alowing 98. the ratings for players in this game are not great (the highest is evans with 81 following o'neal with 75 and JT with 73. cousins is 70, casspi is 67, and donte is 66. i think garcia is 73 also.), but if you know how to use them you can really make some noise.

i just want to say donte is my savior in clutch situations. i'm convinced he can play the 2 guard spot without giving up anything on defense, because the way i have my team set up, i always play man to man and i usaually never have each guy guard their position on the opposite team, and its insane how many good looks donte gets from 3pt range with other 2 guards guarding him. cousins is a beast rebounder, and tyreke is amazing at everything. my team shoots so well, that i don't even have to shoot 3's with tyreke the most i shoot is mid-range jumpers and penetration. significant teams i've beat so far are the lakers (1-1), i also beat miami and oklahoma city. dallas is the only team so far that has my number. the rest of the games i've simmed or have been against bad teams. my record is 16-7 and i'm 4th in the west. with my schedule becoming increasingly harder each month, i don't expect to keep up my record, but the fact that the team has the potential to be this good is scary...that being said, if this team plays like this in real life, do we really need tyreke to have a great 3PT shot? i think i'm fine with him being the PG that least 3's shoots, as i don't think this team is going to need him to shoot it from downtown all that much; we have enough shooters on this team so that tyreke only has to take 3's in clock-winding down situations (granted sasha is a better shooter than beno, but the rest of the guys on the squad that would take 3's are the same).

garcia is a godsend i don't think there is anyone else in the league that can both play and defend all three backcourt positions which gives me great versatility in my bench and also allows me to give everyone enough minutes for them not to complain about their role on the team, i think trading beno made that possible for me since i no longer have a logjam at the point guard position, and trading away landry gave me room to play whiteside whom regardless of his 55 rating, has been made by the 2k ppl a very intelligent player that doesn't need the ball to be effective. the dude averages 4 rebounds and half a block for me in 10-12 minutes a game; i don't need him to do much else, which is exactly the same reason why i traded for jermaine o'neal and stayed with JT. dudes don't need the ball to be effective, and don't care about not getting touches. they're still averaging 7-8 rebounds each, and o'neal is blocking 1.5 shot per game for me. my main offensive weapons are tyreke, cousins and my plethora of great swingmen. i think this is exactly the way the kings should start playing basketball with the team they are trying to develop. i always play from the inside out as i always try to take advantage of cousins great vision and passing ability out of doubleteams in the post. after i've scored a couple of points with demarcus and tyreke, the defense starts doubleteaming cousins and that's when i start unleashing the threepoint shot with casspi and garcia and then with greene and vujacic. almost always my lineup closing games is tyreke, greene, casspi, thompson, and cousins. it works very well for me.

P.S. i also enjoy that in order to play a full game (stats wise) you have to bring the minutes up to 12 minutes/quarter cause the game is just so realistic speedwise...i love this game i'm now convinced that EA made the right decision in not releasing elite 11 as i don't think it would have the caliber to match 2k this year...regardless of wether jordan was or was not on the cover/game. what do you guys think about it?

I have not played association yet...I love the online play though. I am ranked about 1400 right now. I am on a solid 8 game win streak with the Grizz. They are my go to team thus far. I played with the kings online and got spanked LOL. I am a die hard kings fan but lets just say online I will probably never be the kings again...

I only played 2K11 once, but it is a pretty fun game. Too many steals, laugh out loud at Stephen Jackson rated higher than Tyreke by the way. John Wall is a mad man in that game!

Kings are my alt. Started my second association with them (was going to add Jordan but decided not to).
Here's the team I ended up with:

PG: Beno Udrih / Patrick Mills
SG: Tyreke Evans / Francisco Garcia
SF: Donte Greene / Mickael Pietrus
PF: Jason Thompson / Daniel Orton
C: DeMarcus Cousins / Hassan Whiteside

I'm thinking about running Tyreke at PG, trading Beno and/or Garcia and try to add Melo.
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

the thing was i want to see how far i get with the core we have now as the team....to develop our youth....i'm not much for trading away players and creating a fantasy team that will never happen (as would be trying to get melo...) the reality of the situation is that our core lies in reke, cousins, JT, casspi and greene.....the rest of the players are supporting cast. in trading for jermaine o'neal i'm upgrading from dalembert cause dalembert wants to shine offensively and is going to demand the ball this year cause he's in a contract year where as o'neal will not cause he's on a 2 yr. contract and his youth was wasted by injury. plus i figure since i have alot of cap space i can develop hassan and cousins for those 2 years and then resign him to a vet minimum 1 yr. contract from then on in the quest for winning a ring. i don't think it's a bad trade....jermaine o'neal is a solid veteran that will flourish in his secondary role in boston this yr...i seriously believe boston got a steal from the free agency in jermaine o'neal. he is a SOLID backup locker room player. also the logic behind trading away beno was that garcia can play both guard positions and SF. so beno's minutes i'm giving to garcia this way i don't have to try and find minutes for everyone, the minutes are already there. garcia as a point guard is very good in this game. he keeps TO's low and has good passing and is a great shooter. his height advantage at 6'7 lets me take contested shots that with beno i would not be able to take. it also lets me use donte at the 2 guard position which lets me do the same thing with him on the offensive end. vujacic is nothing more than a sharpshooter. and in my system he's getting tons of looks and nailing them. usually i have him defend opposing points as either with garcia or tyreke on the court, either one can defend the 2 spot with ease, so i lose nothing defensively. i can also mix and match lineups. i can play tyreke with donte and casspi just as i can play him with garcia and donte or garcia and casspi. i can play him with vujacic and garcia in a small lineup when neither casspi or donte are hitting long range shots. with o'neal i usually use him to guard the better big out of the opposition. or for instance with the lakers when i have donte on the floor guarding odom, i usually put jermaine on artest and barnes, becuase i know they both suck off the dribble and won't beat me to the basket. rarely i use hassan and o'neal at the same time, but when i do, usually it's in spurts in which my wings are on fire and the defense is scrambling and i don't need much offense from my bigs, but not for more than 4 minutes at a time. then i usually sub one of them out for either cousins or thompson.

i don't think its a bad team, you guys shouldn't either...it's the same team we have now (basically) playing to their strengths...why would we assume it would get killed out there by the rest of the league? all the players in the league are great players. non of them suck. they're just waiting for their chance to be put in the right situation to succeed. i for one think vujacic is better than beno for what the kings need out of him, and vujacic is much cheaper than beno...his ballhandling becomes irrelevant if you understand that garcia can man the point just the same and can play with tyreke beautifully (you have 2 ballhandlers on the court just like with beno). and nobody can tell me that dalembert is better than jermaine o'neal....that would be ludacris.

I traded Landry for Xavier Henry, my starting lineup is:

PG: Tyeke
SG: Henry
SF: Casspi
PF: Cousins
C: Dalembert

I know Cousins wouldn't work at PF in real life but it has been working really well for me so far, although I am only 5 games into the season.

I will admit that I signed Spencer Hawes to a 4 yr 40 mill contract...

I had immediate buyers remorse.

so then I traded him for Iggy..

I have only been playing my player mode. I have to admit though averaging 47 points a game in 5 minute quarters can get boring after a while. Of course that is default difficulty, I don't think I will play my player mode anymore though, I just won a championship and I am burned out on the game(steam says 54 hours played :o )

Im using the kings in 2k11 pretty much pulled off a big trade that i didn't even think would go through. I went and did one more trade and pretty much built a monster squad.

1st trade:
Kings gave up Dally, Casspi, and 2 1st picks to Denver to get a resigned Melo and their first. :o

2nd trade:
Kings gave up Udrith and Denver's 1st to Pacers for Paul George.

New line up is:

PG: T. Evans/ F. Garcia
SG: P. George/ F. Garcia
SF: C. Anthony/ D. Greene
PF: C. Landry/ H. Whiteside
C: D. Cousins/ J. Thompson

Playing on All Star and 12 minute quarters and averaging about 150 points. So far undefeated and going very smoothly. :D

Im gonna start all over in association once they update rosters.

Trades:
Kings: George, Foster
Pacers: Ed Davis, Garcia, Julian Wright & Kings 2012 1st
Raptors: Rush & Kings 2011 1st

Kings: Cavs 2011 1st
Cavs: Kings 2011 & 2012 2nd rounders

Lineup:
PG: Reke/Pooh
SG: George/Udrih
SF: Greene/Casspi
PF: Landry/JT
C: Cousins/Dally/Whiteside

I'd prefer a young player in George rather than a star in Melo, saves money and Reke & DMC can take over

My depth charts now looks like in my second season:

Kirk Hinrich / Tyreke Evans / Patrick Mills
Tyreke Evans / Donte Greene / Kyle Korver
Carmelo Anthony / Kyle Korver / Donte Greene
Jason Thompson / Daniel Orton / Hassan Whiteside
DeMarcus Cousins / Hassan Whiteside / Jason Thompson

- Traded Landry to Orlando for Orton+Anderson
- I got Melo in free agency so that saved me the troubles of trading(save draft picks).
- Traded Garcia/Beno for Hinrich
- Traded Casspi/Wright/'12 2nd Round Pick for Korver.
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.
