Scary thing about that Young/Dixon comparison -- little Juan outrebounded (on both ends of the floor), out-assisted, and out-stole the 6-7 Young. Juan shot worse, committed more turnovers and didn't block as many shots.

oh speaking of nick young and his absolutely inability to do anything except score... there was a loose ball situation where the ball was literally right at his feet and he decided to take off down the court and let wall dive across 2 defenders to get at it so wall could set young up for an easy fast break bucket. wall couldn't get to it in time and a TO turned into the hawks getting the ball back and iirc somebody drilled a 3. just a totally selfish, boneheaded, zero-hustle play.

Championship caliber? Really?

If you take Bynum/Odom/Gasol/Mbenga and Perkins/(old)Garnett/Big Baby as the two championship caliber front courts from last year, yes the Wizards current foursome could be that good. Not saying they are close to that level or likely to get there, but it certainly seems like a legit possibility. At least Blatche and Mcgee look like potential all-stars and Yi is looking like a real find. His rebounding has been fantastic so far.

McGee has exactly the same number of rebounds as Yi but in 15 minutes less playing time.

The only thing really wrong with the Wizard frontcourt is youth. Some folks forget the years Odom struggled. They don't recall that Kobe wanted Bynum traded. They don't remember Big Baby almost getting cut for being overweight. They don't remember Perkins on a terrible Celtic team with Al Jefferson, and without Garnett and Allen and the defensive mind of Tom T.

Washington's got a leader in Wall. They have a backcourt stabilizer who even at his worst is better than Randy Foye at PG, Kirk Hinrich. They have a very unselfish team.

Yi Jianlian just got through averaging 20/10 all through FIBA play. He's not in Milwaukee or with the worst team in recent history, New Jersey. He's playing well within a system that fits his game.

The frontcourt is going to be better than what the Wizards have had and it will continue to improve all season.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Well, except for the fact that Nick can actually guard people.

Nick's had a couple memorable defensive games, but I think his team/help defense essentially sucks. When in he proper mind frame, he's a good man defender -- but as with the rest of his game he is hardly consistent int hat respect.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
