Is Stern going to ruin the Season
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... ting101410
Are the new rules on reacting to calls going to ruin the season?
I think Stern is going to far with this one, and it is going to be a disaster.
Will the officials have the balls to T up and toss the top tier guys?
Thoughts?

Its too far. But I can see where he is going with this, trying to make it more about the sport than the individual. At least thats how I feel, but still, its hard not to react to a foul call or stupid call. Its going to take some serious determination on the players part to hold back.

No, they will only tee up guys like fes if they crack a sarcastic smile and tilt their head, but Lebron will be able to wince and flail in consternation.

There are going to be a lot of guys sitting out some games if this is the case...

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

It's the preseason. Things will loosen up in the regular season. Sterns stupid, but not stupid enough to eject his superstar product on a nightly basis.
Like Delaney said, the biggest change will be for guys like Fes. Not KG, LeBron, etc....

If the NBA is going to impose things like this to the players, they need to hold themselves equally accountable. The NBA needs to be more transparent in its officiating analysis, bottom line. You can only cover something up for so long.
This is a perfect example of why the lockout next season will surely be more painful than ever. A new generation of players with unprecidented entitlement...mixed with a league that feels it is necessary to hold the other side to a higher standard than they hold themselves.

All the fines will add up and keep the league from a lock out. Its all part of the plan for Stern.
Yes it is way to far.I was watch the Celtics preseason game and J.O. got a T fpr speeding up his walk to the bench after a bad call. That god Sheed is out of the League. He would be paying the refs to play like a parks and rec league

Re: Is Stern going to ruin the Season
The NBA is getting harder to watch each year, This is only going to make things worse.
I can see this being a huge issue for the players in any bargaining for a new cba.
I think the league is doing this on purpose just to have a chip to bargain with.

I don't buy the Whats a matter with kids today argument. Things were way worse for primadonnaism in the day of Larry Johnson and Anthony mason.

I disagree completely. Am I the only one that was glad to see Kevin Garnett ejected for whining? Part of the problem with the NBA's "watchability" is the excessive amount of complaining and lobbying that goes on.
I'm just hoping they T up Tim Duncan for excessive eye-bugging.

Unwatchable in that it is just another trip to the line, and slows the game down even further.
I want to see basketball, not free throw shooting contests.

meh. Stern tweaks the rules and some fans predict the end of the world. Its not going to effect the flow of the game.

Firstly, yes.. Stern is ruining the NBA. He is a total git. However, they already tried to do this a few years ago. They quite after like 10 games. I agree players shouldn't be allowed to whine, but they should be allowed to show emotion. This is just to strict IMO.

This. When you watch soccer, you see players getting emotional and whining with nothing happening. However if they get in the ref's face, whine excessively or if they flop, they get a yellow card. The same rule should apply to basketball IMO.
You shouldn't get a tech for complaining over a single call. If you complain excessively, like a lot of players do, if you confront the ref or if you get caught flopping, you should be called for a technical.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Flooping, needs to be a rule, if a player fakes a foul there should be a penalty of sorts. That will clean up the game.
If refs are going to call complaining to the itty picky, they better be right on the call...which is impossible all the time. This is horrible! How does a player respond if his career and millions of dollars rely on it when a ref misses a call against that player. There better be fines or technicals for the refs too if they miss calls. Many of the arguing starts because the refs miss calls and get the players frustrated and fans frustrated too.
If they want to clean up the players frustration they should clean up the traveling rules and not allow three steps one way that isn't a travel and three steps another way that is a travel...based only on ones opinion. That stupid jump rule in the key, technically is NOT travelling in one respect but is traveling in another respect.... Confusing, fustration, horrible!!

They did this three years ago, it didn't even last as long as those composite balls.
