Dudley Official A Guard - Not Forward

Post#1 » by TheMan44 » Thu Oct 14, 2010 6:41 am

"It is a subtle change but Jared Dudley is now a guard. In the Suns' system, there is little difference in Dudley going from small forward to shooting guard and Josh Childress at small forward. The difference is mainly for defensive assignments." -Coro

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/ar ... z12JRaf700

So guess you can officially put a stamp on all the speculation: Dudley is a shooting guard. Josh Childress is a small forward. Mystery solved.

G Nash - Dragic - Janning
G Rich - Dudley - Janning
F Hill - Childress - Clark
F Hedo - Warrick - Lawal
C Lopez - Frye - Jones or Dampier

Just hope Dampier joins to at least make Suns a little more respectable in the defensive end of things. Nice to have 3 deep at center.

Also nice to have defense and height at shooting guard with Dudley at this point.

as long as you can put up a respectable defense on kobe and you can hit the 3, you really can play guard.

In our system I thought he would've moved up to PF lol. I guess it takes off some pressure at the stacked 3 spot and adds depth at the 2.

The only thing I see here is that Childress and Dudley have swapped on our estimated rotations. Nothing major.

No it isn't major, and we all knew this swap had happen already, hadn't we?

To my mind, this effectively means more time for Childress.

SG - Richardson (32) / Dudley (16)
SF - Hill (28) / Childress (20)

Ouch, already decided against Dowdell, huh?

Even though this move seemed obvious, and its not major, I'm glad its been made a distinction.

Janning or Dowdell - whatever. Sorry if I put Janning as default.

What I wanna know is why Dampier has not made up his mind. Is he Bret Favre?

Or is he just a lazy ass who wants to skip all training camps and simply picks team on opening day?

Suns can sure use a 3rd-string center in case Lopez is down w/ back injury or fouls.

I highly doubt Dwayne Jones makes effective 3rd center. Dampier or Jarron Collins, maybe, but not Jones.

Nash-Dragic
JRich-Dudley
Hill-Hedo-JChill
Warrick-Frye-Lawal
Dampier-Lopez

i personally think Hedo should come off the bench because he cant play PF, and hasnt been producing wen put as SF.
So if we get Dampier, im hoping to see him start because he's better on the offensive end than Rolo, and similar defensively. So Rolo can come off the bench and be extremely effective as he'll be the only one in the key with Hedo, Frye, n Duds on the wing

Ok, I don't get all the "bench Hedo" talk. Who says Hedo "can't play the 4"? He hasn't done a bad job so far this preseason. And what in gods name do you mean he "hasn't been producing" at SF"? Its PRESEASON people. Has Nash been "producing" as well as usaual so far this PRESEASON? Hell no. Because its the PRESEASON. Turkoglu goes from the main playmaker/second best player on a finals team playing at an all-star level to 2nd string SF on a middle-of-the-pack playoff team 2 years later? I'm confused.

Why is JChill 3rd string? Garbage. Childress was debateably one of the top players during training camp for us, right behind JRich. I'm sorry, that makes no sense.

Dampier starting over Lopez? Are you insane sir? An offensive improvement? I'm pretty sure Lopez is a better offensive player than 36-year old Erick Dampier, especially in this offense. I'm also really confused at your logic of starting a lumbering center who will probably only be in the league for one or two more years over our "Center of the future"? Lopez is more than ready to start right now, and if he isn't the opening day starter this season, there will be some serious anger directed at the FO for their insanity.

Yeah, I don't buy JChill as a third stringer either. He has been a bright spot in what looks like a terrible preseason.

+1

LOL at Dampier an offensive improvement over Lopez. Lopez playing with 2 slipped discs is still a better offensive player than Dampier ever was.

Yeah, sunsfan3, I think you have it backwards....

Dampier is better on the defensive end, Lopez on the offensive end.

In my mind, right now if it came to it, Childress gets the minutes over Dudley and, if he's considered a SF in our system, Turkoglu as well.

It really sounds like Childress and Warrick have been impressing. I know it's only preseason, but it's still their job utlimately and it's a great way to leave an impression in the coaches' minds.

Yes it is major. It means Dudley will not be leaving. JRich and Grant's contracts expire next year, which means Dudley and Childress are our future 2 and 3.

We're gonna be a huge joke for a while if we plan to have a starting 5 of Dragic/Dudley/Childress/Hedo/Lopez hahahaha.
