OT: FIFA 11

Post#1 » by and1GS » Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:10 pm

This is probably a little OT, but who's got FIFA 11? It just came out today and I picked up my copy an hour ago. At first glance there are a lot of things different this year. Most notably the PK and passing system. IMO this year it will be a lot harder for casual players to do well but the technical changes will definitely benefit more experienced FIFA players.

They definitely improved on virtual pro and a lot of other aesthetics but it will take me a couple weeks to get used to the new gameplay. If any of you have a 360 let's get a game going sometime.

One last thing...I know FIFA usually does regional covers for FIFA so can anyone tell me who's on the cover for Europe, South America, etc?

I'm thinking of purchasing it, but, has someone had the chance to play and compare it with PES2011?

^PES really improved last year, it feels like the PES of old, but by saying that IMO Fifa is the better game.

If you really like the old PES, I'd recommend it

I haven't played it and probably won't do anyway but a friend of mine told me PES is much better than Fifa11

take it for what it's worth.

Pes has its fanboys, especially here in Turkey thanks to the PS2 era where PES became a legend and Fifa sucked.

I've played the demo many times and will buy the game whenever I get the chance.

Some notes:

- The penalty system is awful to me right now, but the system in Fifa 10 was way too easy. Maybe I'll get used to it later on.
- You can finally edit a player and increase his attributes without decreasing another attribute. I've been waiting since Fifa 08 for this, and always questioned why they didn't add it.
- You can load chants + pre game music.

FIFA 11 is a lot harder than FIFA 10...

The passing, shooting, jostling, rating, and PK systems are totally different. Now only a small handful of players can do 5 star tricks and idk why but every single shot I take is on the ground, I can't raise the shot at all. I'm guessing this is because they revamped the shooting so you have to aim more.

When i get better I'm sure it will be fun but until then it's pretty whack.

I really do like the improvements in terms of gameplay (the passing system takes a little while to adjust to and players have trouble on shots from distance) but the PK system is killing me. In arena mode they're pretty easy to master and then I played a few games that went to PKs and missed the net on nearly every one.

just take a lot of them, that's probably the easiest thing to adapt to. once you know wtf is going wrong it's easy to adjust.

I don't know why you guys are saying the PK are hard. I'm hitting them at a 95% clip.

Well if you're an arrogant SOB like me, you assume you can pick up where you left off last game and take PKs however you want. After watching the tutorial once, they're definitely not that difficult at all.

I've found my team: Bayern. The fastest players in the game are the stars and Ribery/Robben are damn fast. Only downside is that their defense is slow as all hell and gets chewed up against Real. Fun game though now that I've figured it out.

Napoli was my team in the last game, this year it could be Bayern for me as well. I can't use Ribery but Robben is great, he is the sole reason why I always attack from the right side. You also have Bastian Schweinsteiger who can defend and attack, plus great goalscorer Thomas Müller. I agree, the defense is kinda bad, but I'll get used to it as time passes.

I've been subbing out Badstuber for Breno...a little extra speed. I also bench Muller to get Robben in the lineup. What lineup do you run with?

I like to use different teams, I pretty much run default in all of them, except for a few. Like if I use Chelsea, I take off Mikel for Banayoun/Kalou (depending on who I feel like), put Essien as DM and Malouda as LCM and put Benayoun on the wings. But if my opponents play as Barca or Real, I stick with Mikel.

My team right now though is Everton.

Also, Robben is ridiculous in the game, I just love it when I cut in from outside the area and score with that left foot, it always brings me a smile.

My favourite is set to Argentina, so a lot of people will switch to an international team as well. If they pick a five star club I will go with Barca, if they go 4.5 star I'll either choose Man City (only recently, because of CARLITOS), or Atletica Madrid, as well as some Italian sides if I feel like it.

I've been playing Robben as the lone striker ahead of Klose with Olic at LM. Who do you guys have at lone striker? Olic with Klose behind him?

I just stick with the default team, I don't really feel the need to change anything when I use Bayern.
