Jordan Crawford

Post#1 » by CarMalone » Wed Oct 13, 2010 3:26 am

Coming into the season, most NBA fans knew that the Hawks would have a high scoring instant offense guard in J. Crawford but who thought it would be Jordan Crawford?

This preseason:
21 ppg and 5 apg on 48% shooting

I know this is the pre-season and only 3 games but averaging 21 points is a feat in any situation. Must be something in the Jordan name.

He also has a +/- of -16...

Can't say I put too much stock in the preseason though. I'm glad that he's doing well and looks to be improving, but to think that he's anything more than a rookie doing OK in preseason is taking things out of context.

Jordan has played well, but it's preseason. Quite a bit of the team is out. Someone has pick up the slack, but I'm glad to see he has (better than sucking when given a chance). Let's wait until the games count before falling in love.

Having said that I didn't have a doubt that Jordan could score. The questions for me were always whether he could play good enough defense to be a full time player and not just a spot reserve and whether he could fit into an offense and not just be an iso-guy (also not determined yet). Both take time to determine (almost every rookie plays weak D and the whole offense is in flux).

I don't think he has elite handle like Jamal or Kobe or Wade does, and his defense has also been weak. That said his passing has been far better than advertised.

I hope his defense is going to develop to Kobe-esque levels. His offense is going to grow with time, it's the D that's an issue atm.

i think he could be on the same level as Cuttino Mobley, Flip Murray, or Vernon Maxwell. he could have a ceiling as high as Jamal Crawford or maybe Gilbert Arenas.

I know it's just 3 preseason games (one not even a start), and that he was crap at the line and from downtown, but he's got some serious promise. I hope he turns into something special.

He is got potential that we know especially in offense. The reassuring thing is that LD is coaching now not Woodson, who I think would have less patience with him, hence less PT for JC2.
If used intelligently, he could be a steal in this draft. Most importantly, he makes JC more expendable should we have a good trade lined up...
