Flip Saunders is a clown, he has never been successful in this league and he never will be.

I don't recall that many play calls last night where we came down the court and set one of our bigs in the post and made sure that they got the ball. Even if the bigs tendencies are to move to the perimeter to get the ball, I think Flip's offense has the tendency to create jump shots.

I also saw the comment that when the Wizards were on offense near their bench in the first half they were able to move the ball thanks to the instructions from the coaching staff but in the second half they were on the opposite end and essentially on their own and things didn't go that well. Not the sign a particularly well coached team (though granted its preseason and they have a lot of new and inexperienced players).

The only other thing that really stood out for me is that Ammo needs to go. I think even I could go by him.

Excellent point, this has been a problem for Wiz teams dating back to the EJ days. However, having bigs who like to shoot jumpers isn't helping. Hoping Seraphin will be our post-player one day if we don't get one between now and the time it takes for him to develop. JaVale is moving in this direction, but like you said, where are the plays for the bigs?

That's bull and you know it. You may disagree with his style on this team but you can't attack the guy's record.

Flip Saunders is a clown, but Arenas isn't?

KZ sounds like the guy that called in on the radio last night
and actually compared Flip with EJ in terms of competence.
Laughable.

Right, so when we talk about the Wizards and decide the barometer for success the PLAYOFFS are NEVER GOOD ENOUGH for any of you, it's CHAMPIONSHIP OR BUST.

But, yet when evaluating Head Coaching prospects and their success, a guy who has never gone ANYWHERE in the PLAYOFFS, who's only success is JUST GETTING THERE (with amazing talent no less), that equates to SUCCESS.

Riiiiiight. So it's not good enough for the Wizards to be a PLAYOFF TEAM, but it's just SWELL that their Head Coach is a PERENNIAL PLAYOFF LOSER.

KZ is actually the guy who first called for EJ's head on this forum. So, no, not exactly.

He also at one point in the game had Mbah A Moute on him and he did not go to the post ONCE!!! It's very frustrating. I hope he moves his behind to the low post and mix his game up a little more than just relying on a jumper that isn't all that consistent just yet.

Basically, we are still a soft jump-shooting team with a new cast. Quite frankly, we are feeling the loss of Singleton among other things IMO. We will improved though.

Wall was driving.
Gil was out.
We played some ( but not enough ) transition and got the the hoop.
Dray. I think he is just getting his legs. Banging down low and driving take more energy. I think that will come. But part of his game is shooting from range. I think he is just doing what he has the energy to do right now.

Plus we played a lot of Ammo and he isn't going to take it inside.
McGee, for some reason he wasn't alley-opping like he usually does.

But yes, I wanted Singleton to stay but understand why he didn't. We will just have to live through our younger players getting up to speed.

Really, hasn't he made to conference finals like four times?

Really, the guy with the current 9th best win% in the NBA?? So it's Ship or Bust? Think fast, how many current NBA coaches have won a Ship............shouldn't take too long. You'll only need one hand.

Okay good, so now we have it set. You guys seem to agree with me that Success in the NBA is not determined by how many championships you win. I've been making this point here all along and now you have done well to support me, albeit in a backhanded way. Thanks! :-)

Most of the above posters would probably say that a championship is *a* measure of success, but not the *only*. For a player or a coach, it is a measurement that should be taken within the context of their team situation.

For a team, it SHOULD be the goal. Otherwise, why are you competing? If you don't win, the season is not automatically a failure... but deciding beforehand that a championship is out of the question and shouldn't even be on the table (the view you have espoused a few times here, KZ) strikes me as ridiculous and hyper-pessimistic.

I wasn't an EJ fan but I think for this particular team( young, athletic etc.), he would be a better fit.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

KZ, a championship is the highest measure of success, and I'll always be at least a little dissatisfied with anything less, but I'd rather be in the mix, even if the Wizards don't win it all, then not be in the mix at all. One thing at a time, eh?

Return to Washington Wizards
