Beats the early season misery we've suffered through in the last few years, especially with last year's start

Awesome game. A mix of good and bad but thrilling throughout.

The game winner was Kessel's 100th goal.

"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

Bozak and Kessel are working so well together. I was wondering if Ron Wilson would place MacArthur in the first line and drop Versteeg a bit further down.

Man, I hate Sean Avery. The guy is the dirtiest player in the game. He's a chicken sh*t. Atleast if you're going to be a pest, stand up when the big boys want to fight. He's always ready to fight against people that don't normally fight.

^ Seguin is 18 man. Kessel had 29 points his first year.

Re: Leafs regular season thread
That trade will end up working for both teams. As long as Toronto doesnt give up another top 5 pick, Im ok with the deal. The Bruins might come out slightly ahead because they get another first rounder, but when Kessel puts up 40+ goals ever year, most people will forget.

Re: Leafs regular season thread
The Leafs are 4-0 and its great to be excited, but its still very early. The Leafs have caught quite a few breaks so far
First game Montreal was missing Cammaleri and Markov
Sens we just dominated
Penguins were missing Orpik and another guy
Rangers didnt have Gaborik and Drury for most of the game
No back to backs this month and its been a very easy schedule so far. 20 games into the season if they re playing like this, I am going to truly believe.

^ Other guy is Jordan Staal.
I still don't like the trade because I would rather have Seguin Kadri and another high pick this year developing together. Sure Kessel is a proven player but complete centres dont come around as often as scoring wingers, especially in Toronto. Also we still don't have a good centre for Kessel and by the time we do finally get him a decent centre (1-3 years its looking like) would you rather have been developing a young core?

I love the trade. its not like Kessel is old by any means. And he doesn't play a Gary Roberts style that will wear down his body (unless you have a work out regimen like Gary Roberts).
A bird in the hand is better than two (or five) in the bush.
And Toronto has a poor record of developing prospects into legit all-stars.

It's in Toronto's best interests to overachieve this year. That way it will be just giving up Seguin and a lower 1st round pick (if I'm not mistaken). You'd hate to compare Kessel to TWO top 5 picks, but if the Leafs can squeak into the playoffs (or overachieve) then it'll be just Kessel and Seguin and hope the lower pick doesn't explode into a stud.
