Official Thread - Wizard at Knicks Preseason (10/17/10)

Sorry late...was hoping someone else would make a game thread.

What: Washington Wizards vs New York Knicks
Where: Madison Square Garden - New York, NY
When: 6:00 p.m. EDT
TV: NBA League Pass, MSG
Radio: 1050 am

Coming off of a frustrating loss at home, YOUR Washington Wizards travel up to New York and a Sunday night match up with the Knicks at the storied Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are also coming off of a loss (to Boston). Off season acquisition G Raymond Felton (from Charolotte) and Fs Danilo Galinari and Wilson Chandler played well for New York.

Expect G Gilbert Areas to rest a right groin strain suffered in the loss to the Bucks. Swingman Nick Young may get the start, though head coach Flip Saunders will surely want to see F Al Thornton (assuming he's ready to go). Thornton has missed the last few games with a sprained ankle. Reserve C Hilton Armstrong looks like he's fully recovered from tweaking his shoulder and should see some burn.

F/C Yi Jianlian had a sub-par game vs Milwaukee. I'll be interested to see if he's up to getting back on track. The PG matchup between Washington's John Wall and Felton should be really entertaining.

J. Wall should be able to feast on Felton. Amare will destroy Blatche, like always. Blatche needs to go back at Amare very often because Amare isn't a good defender. Nick Young likes to play the Knicks so I expect a nice game from him. Gallinari usually lights it up himself, so I expect 15+ from him. Should be a fun, high scoring game.

What is frustrating is putting together a quick game thread with TV and radio info - then having people not even read the initial post in the thread. Sigh.

My dream scenario would be to sit Gil these last 2 games and have both him & Howard practice the last 3-7 days before the Magic game and both start....lol

Even if Howard came off the bench it would be great but I hate screwing up things & messing with things once stuff gets started. Thats why I want everyone there for game 1 but its much more important to have a guy like Howard late in the season than it is early so I still know where my real priorities lay. Health is the most important

I dont think Yi played subpar as much as his role is different. Sometimes guys think its better to start but in alot of sitautions you actually get more oppurtunites off the bench than you do as a starter. Off the bench he's almost a go to guy in some situations but as a starter he might be our 5th option at times

Yi's hands were pretty scary in the first quarter, though. That's probably his worst physical attribute and the blown plays there seemed to erode his confidence.

At the risk of sounding odd...

Part of me is going to watch the game and trying to imagine 'Melo on the court w/the Knicks (I understand he still wants to be traded to the Knicks, Nets, or Bulls).

Seems like the Knicks have more pieces to trade Denver than the Nets. Though I think the Bulls have potentially more proven pieces.

I wonder why a deal hasn't been done yet? I honestly have not kept up with the "Melo sweepstakes, so I don't know if it's because Denver is asking for a whole lot, or if the other teams are trying to lowball the Nuggets. (Though with multiple teams vying for Melo, you'd think that nobody would try to lowball Denver for fear of another team swooping in).

Denver wants to keep him; and because it appears their feelings unrequited, they want to spite him.They don't want to give in to his demands. He doesn't want to go to the Nets, and I'm not sure the Knicks or the Bulls have anything they want(aside from STAT, ROSE, ETC).

I'm actually surprised that the Wizards haven't been included in the conversation though I'm not sure Ernie would be willing to part with Blatche and McGee.

Question. I have Direct TV but this game isnt on locally. However, it is on MSG and its on League Pass on channel 751 or something. IDK about the MSG one but they shouldnt block out the league pass one, right?

Who shouldn't block it out? MSG as punishment for not living in New York? If you get the league pass channels I'm sure you're one of the lucky few who will enjoy this game outside of the New York area.

UPDATE! If you are in DC and have Comcast Digital Cable, the channel is 752 for this game. NBA League Pass is showing preseason games for free.
