Brandon Bass anyone ???

Post#1 » by realsunsfan » Sun Oct 17, 2010 4:14 am

A question for all you die hard "we have to have a traditional PF" posters, what would you guys think about trading for Brandon Bass ?? Yes he's a little short for the "traditional" PF at 6' 8" but at 240 lbs he is very strong and athletic, knows how to fight and win position down low and is a good rebounder. Ever since he signed with the Magic he has been wasting away on their bench. He is dying for the chance to prove his value and earn his minutes.........could be an option for our PF "needs"

Here is a link to a story on him out of Orlando..........

Brandon Bass does not intrigue me one bit. There is a reason why he's rotting on that bench, because he just isn't good enough to play decent minutes. The guy has low basketball IQ, and most importantly, he leaves a lot wanted on the defensive end of the court. His awareness is terrible, his feet aren't fast enough, and he's not the fastest guy in general (mentally, too). I'd rather stick with a Hedo/Warrick/Lawal trio and keep Dudley/Clark instead of wasting assets on this guy.

Okay. Serious post time.

Brandon Bass is not the answer for us at PF. Bass plays very little defense, and isn't all that flash on offence either. I don't see the point of having Bass while we have Hakim Warrick.

Actually, now that i look at it, from what i understand Dudley is most likely gone after this season. I would do a Dudley for Bass/Orton deal. That gives ORL a starting SF, and us a good rebounding PF and a PF/C that is raw, but has potential. If they wont add Orton, have them throw in a 1st. :-?

And your source is ???

I am not doubting this, for he may be our best trade chip if things get desperate. But I would not swansong him yet. We will have to pony up Frye-ish dough to keep him likely, but who knows what will be going on with the CBA then.

I do not think Bass is anything but a reserve and doubt he'd give us much more than Lawai or a motivated Clark.

I cant find the links as of right now, but there was a couple different articles talking about it being a contract year, how we most likely wont offer him what other teams will, us picking up Hedo also severely impacts the chances of us re-signing Duds and Grant Hill talking about playing a few more years as the final nail in Dudley as a Sun coffin. The article also talked about how we have been trying to make Earl Clark a SF and he could get minutes there with Dudley gone.

Wish i could find the link, but i go through about 25+ basketball sites a day, so its hard for me to track it down. I also believe the AZ Republic had a bit on Dudley as a FA in it too. It didnt get into as much detail, but pretty much said he is likely the odd man out.

I don't think you've ever written "Lawal". It's always either Lawai or Gawal. Just an observation.

Rather let Dudley walk than have Bass making ~5mil/year to be beat out in the rotation by Lawal. No thanks.

Have you seen him play in preseason? I think not.

Last night against the Bulls:

Brandon Bass 27minutes, 7-9FG, 14points, 10rebounds, 2assists.

Against the Bobcats: 30minutes, 16points, 9rebounds, 2blocks, 1 steal and assist.

Against the Pacers: 20minutes, 9points, 7rebounds, 3blocks
