I didn't get to watch the game but I saw Jazz forum on this game, why are they saying Jefferson schooled/dominated Pau when he only had 14/5? While Pau had 28/9, granted he played 6 more mins.....was Jefferson not guarding Pau? Or they basing it on like 1 or 2 plays? I guess they dont want to consider that Jefferson will have to guard Bynum when he's back rather then Pau? Unless they like having Milsap guard Bynum?

From what I've seen it looks as though the Jazz match up a bit better with the Lakers then in years past. Jefferson matches up well with Gasol and isn't intimidated by him at all. Bell has always taken the matchup with Kobe personal as well. Do I think the Jazz will beat the Lakers in a 7 game series? Probably not; but they looked like they have the tools to match up with them in the WCF.

I do agree though that Al Jefferson matches up better with Laker bigs than Carlos, but I think the team will hurt when Gordon hits that rookie wall, because I think he's going to smash into it hard.

Also, I do think that Jefferson makes us a much bigger threat to beat the Lakers. Doesn't mean it will happen, but to go from Boozer and his inability to operate against Pau's length to Jefferson and his clear comfort level against Pau is a big upgrade. I really like the moves in relation to playoff matchups. Whether or not it makes us better straight up is still in question. But I think there's no doubt it gives us a better chance versus the Lake Show.

you do realize Bynum will most likely guard Jefferson right and not Pau? If I recall even prior to his knee injury Jefferseon also had difficulties against Byum, he still posted good #'s just wasn't efficient. If Jefferson were to guard Pau, who is guarding Bynum Milsap or the Kufos?

It was definitely premature to imply the Jazz make it to the WCF I admit that; not that they lack the talent to do so. I think that the west is as wide open as ever. Although, I think the Spurs have a better shot at making it to the WCF than the Nuggets or the Jazz. The Jazz play in arguably the toughest division in the NBA, if they can win the conference there is no reason to believe they won't make a run in the playoffs. They have an completely different roster this season, they may struggle early, but if they can gel I think they are a team that can surprise some people in the playoffs. I'm not trying to be defensive but flaming a rookie who torched your team is a little irritating. The Jazz were playing without the best point guard in the league and their starting center from last year. In my opinion the Lakers are the best team in the NBA and I'm excited to see how the Jazz match up with them is all.

Probably will be Fesenko/Elson or Memo guarding Bynum. Koufus was part of the Jefferson trade, he's no longer with the Jazz. Once Memo comes back he should open things up in the 3 point shooting area.

I don't think the Jazz will win the lakers in a series, especially if Kobe goes off like he did in the 3rd quarter..he can turn it on at any point but I do think we match up better now with Jefferson instead of Boozer. Also Memo Okur/Elson was out of the game so we only really had one center for the preseason game.

The Jazz matched-up well against us last night, largely because you didn't have Deron dominating the ball, shooting 38.7%. Once he gets healthy the match-up will look like playoffs past.

So long as Fisher's around anyway.

Although, I was impressed by the Jazz last night. Al Jefferson seems to be back and he's one of the few true offensively talented bigs in the game. Much better fit than the head-case that was Boozer. He was dominating Pau in the first half. But Pau's length is still trouble for Al, on some plays Pau looks like a big brother playing on an 8 foot rim.

Sorry, but Kobe and Raja was always Kobe domination. If the game plan is to get Kobe to drop 40 points and freeze out the rest of the guys, then that's an option. But it'll be fun to watch either way.

Then there's Bynum/Okur's returns should make the match-ups even more interesting.
