Re: Tuesday Trade Deadline News
Well I don't want to acquire players really, cause not many teams are going to give us young players with upside, and what we don't want are guys that have high salaries or old age, so the name of the game is to sell players and not add players. But of course there could be a deal like say maybe a team wants to trade a guy like Perish Cox, who is young and has upside, but also some early concerns, and maybe that team wants a trio of vets to try and solve other issues and can justify that.
Or perhaps we could find a deal like a Marcus McNeil where we negotiate a long-term deal for him, and SD takes a package of players to try and fix their roster for this year and get whatever they can get for him.
The Broncos are pretty stupid, maybe they would trade us Perish Cox, he has had a couple of early rough games, so he should be worth a 7th rounder right? How about JP and Backus to Denver for Cox and they still owe us something in exchange for taking too old expensive players and only giving us one guy that has a possible great future? lol

TRADE TALK: There has been little indication that the Lions might make a deal by today's 4 p.m. trading deadline

Our team must be set for this year and the future, no need to get better, hmm I guess that means we are now the best team in the NFL?

Re: Tuesday Trade Deadline News
Here's what I know regarding DET and trades:
--like pretty much every other team they called OAK about Asomugha and also Michael Huff. The asking price for Asomugha is a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd--heard that straight from someone in OAK's org chart. They are asking for at least a 3rd for Huff but they won't get a 6th unless someone is really deluded. The only untouchables are Zach Miller, Matt Shaughnessy, Shane Lechler and all their rookies.
--this is older but the Lions inquired with Houston about Xavier Adibi, for when Cushing was coming off suspension. With Ryans now out I can't see HOU dealing any LBs.
--Brady Quinn can be had for a sack of balls. If he had a sack of balls he'd be worth it.
I really don't expect much action before the deadline in a few hours. Maybe some backups move for late picks, nothing earth shattering. San Diego isn't dealing McNeill, and nobody wants Jackson because he wants Fitzgerald-type $$.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Re: Tuesday Trade Deadline News
One name that continues to come up is Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth. The possibility remains he could be dealt Tuesday for a draft pick -- the Tennessee Titans have had the most consistent contact with the Redskins dating to before the draft, and Haynesworth would relish a return to the team.

Re: Tuesday Trade Deadline News
Yeah not too many players that would make sense for us anyhow, since any good players we can't afford to pay to use them this year while other teams can, so pretty much we just need to sell anybody we can for extra draft pick value. There are so many teams with injuries at various positions that there has to be teams that would be willing to pay something for some of our guys that we can live without. Other than our C, starting 2 guards, Scheffler, most of our DL and Levy and Delmas and our K/P, pretty much everybody (about 30 guys) would be a worthwhile exploration for a trade that a team running for the playoffs should value those guys more than we do, and a lot of them don't have much contract length time that they don't provide any value here. Those teams have to pay to use those players this year too, which makes our receiving package worth more than our current players. There has to be lots of deals out there, and we should be talking with every team to find out who they could possibly rent and buy from us.

Lions activate Jack Williams, release Dante Wesley
Wesley re-signed with the Lions on Sept. 30 to provide special teams depth after being released before the season. He committed a costly personal foul when he hit a player out of bounds on a punt with 2:18 to play in Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. Because of the penalty, the Lions (1-5) started their final, ill-fated drive at their own 14-yard line

Re: Tuesday Trade Deadline News
Good news. Wesley was insulting to have on the roster, I can't stand wasting spots for journeymen players when we aren't in a position to win with them. Wesley made a boneheaded play in that last game, and that's on the Lion's staff, just like we talked before on what blame gets ASSIGNED where, well that play was PURELY not a player blame play, because he was a journeyman player, and an unqualified illogical player to hold on the roster, and so if you vouch for him and give him a roster spot, he better not make bad plays like that or you failed by vouching for somebody you shouldn't have. He had no business being a part of this team, and thus is exempt from any performance blame.
So if he plays well, thats ok, but if he plays bad, then you failed. Whereas with a young guy if he plays well, thats ok, but if we plays bad, well that was at least a justifiable gamble.
The difference between the 2 scenarios is a bigger cost for failing in the first, and the percentages of success and the values of succeeding or failing I believe are more favorable to take the second choice. So you have no business in bothering with the first option, unless you are HIGHLY sure you know what you doing and that the player won't bust out, and I don't buy that Wesley was that sure of a thing, to me that's not a credible belief and therefore everything he does bad on the field is pure blame on the coaches and the managers.
With Jack Williams, we can't lose, we have everything to gain and nothing to lose. We need future good young players, more CBs like Alphonso Smith that were great in college, still young, and will be given away by stupid teams, and Jack W is eligible even though chance his small, but at least he's eligible.
