Penalties keep killing Lions

The penalty line read this way: Giants 2, Lions 11. And low total wins that matchup.
The lions lead the NFL in penaltys and you can blame coaching 100% for that,penaltys helped big time in all of the lions losses and this is what the coach says
Yeah, we made some mistakes," coach Jim Schwartz
he never talks about cutting penaltys down because he does not know what to do,it's that simple

The Lions aren't good enough to beat themselves and their opponent on any given Sunday.

Well the coach is part to blame for that. He doesn't stick up for his team strong enough when the penalties are unjust. I would have taken my entire team off the field after that CJ play, the entire team would have been ordered to go into the locker room to await further instructions. It may have cost me my job but sometimes you have to stand up for justice and our coach has been soft because he's probably not wanting to get fined, or he wants to be a "professional" because maybe he's old school. Put it this way, if Jim Leyland was our coach, how do you think he would have behaved thus far? He may have also not done a good job, but he would never not stand up for what's right, and that's what you have to do in sports, is fight to get the most out of your players and stand up for sports justice when it is perverted by others.

Like any coach, Schwartz wants to avoid penalties, but he does not want to keep players from being aggressive.
"And you never want to discourage that," he said. "You never want to get guys playing cautious or get guys playing to avoid penalties."

For years, I've heard football people tell me that discipline penalties were on the coaches not the players.

Here's the problem: I have no idea how a coach is supposed to solve it. Scream at the players? Coddle the players?

What coaches will say is they're going to "emphasize it at practice" or "it's going to be a point of emphasis."

Think about it, though. Does telling a player "Hey, don't hit that guy after the whistle" really need to be emphasized?

If the Lions coaches have to spend their time in practice reminding guys that they can't move until after the snap or that swinging at opponents isn't a good idea, no wonder they can't get anything done.

Seriously, I'm at a loss. How does a head coach correct penalties?

And don't give me that lame "Cut 'em or trade 'em" stuff. These are good players doing bad things, dumb things. You don't get rid of good players who do bad things, you just get rid of the bad things.

But how?
