13 year old boy from Sweden scores 272 points in a game

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ba ... ingle_game

A friend of mine told me about this.

I did not believe him at first.

Hell. I still am having trouble believing this.

Accoring to Wikipedia it is true though.

Damn.

That is a hell of a lot of points for a single basketball game.

Forget about Michael Jordan, that kid's picture needs to be on the cover of the next NBA2K game.

I wonder whatever happened to him.

That would be one hell of a pickup line for the ladies...

Hey girl. I scored 272 points in a basketball game once and tonight I am going to score to score with you too.

If it's on Wikipedia, then it must be true.

13 year old Swedes have literally nothing better to do all day besides edit spurious facts into Wikipedia articles.

BRB gonna wiki it so it's the truth.

272 points is almost 70 points per quarter, almost 6 points per minue, so that's about two points every twenty seconds consistently for an entire game. Your friend is most definately lying.

The highest single game total in worldwide organized basketball history, regardless of gender, age or competition level, is 272 points, scored by a 13-year old boy named Mats Wermelin of Sweden.[3][19] He recorded every single point in his team's 272–0 win on February 5, 1974, during a regional boys' tournament held in Stockholm.[19]

Damn.

The game was a shutout too.

I can only imagine the attention he received from the ladies after the game.

Gotta be fake... He scored every point and the opponent score nothing? Only way I believe this is if it was a 13 year old playing against like 6 year olds... Or a 13 year old playing against handicapped or mentally challenged kids

Search google

They actually have a considerable amount of articles about this guy and the game.

Wow....

I don't care what anyone says

272 is harder to do in a youth league shortened game.

so

I don't even think I could score 272 in a 2k11 game

If it's real 1 of 2 things happened

A. His team was so much better than the other team they forced a turnover every 5 seconds and were just force feeding the kid shots

B. It was a setup and the other team was just inbounding it to the kid to get him this record from the beginning of the game. I lean more towards B.

Look at some of the scores in those games.

154-10
173-43
102-24

Now usually I'm of the opinion that if another player or team is blowing you out and you don't like it, it's your responsibility to stop them, but jeez, if you're up 70 and you don't take out the kid who has 50+% of your points, you're just being a d-bag.

In NBA Live '98 for playstation, if you turned fouls off and hit the square button when you were defending someone...you'd shove them, they'd fly up in the air about 5 feet and fall, and obviously lose the ball. I would do that every time they in bounded the ball, grab it, and dunk it. One time I did this with like 6-8 minute quarters, and I believe scored about 400 points or so.

There's an obvious culprit to blame here.

The Metric System.

lol, I somehow remember that.... along with hitting players after the play in 90s Madden and the ref would say, "Personal foul, he's giving him the business."

Once in a domestic league we were playing a team who was a LOT worse than us and one of our guys had about 15 points in the first 5-10 minutes so we decided to try to get him to 100. We ran everything through him, had him running the break every single play, shooting on every single offense etc, and we got him to 90. He was extremely fit and a very good ball player and just getting him to 90 was hard work in a game of two 20 minute halves with limited clock stopping (as most junior games are, particularly internationally).

The kid is either lying or they stopped the clock every time the ref thought about blowing his whistle and awarded him a bucket every time he scratched his nuts.
