Lito Sheppard to Bucs?

Post#1 » by No. 12 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 12:18 am

FOXSports.com has learned that Sheppard was in Tampa on Wednesday to visit with the Buccaneers, who have emerged as the frontrunner for the two-time Pro Bowler, and is likely to be traded by Saturday.

It appears it will take a second-round pick plus and additional pick or player to get the deal done.

Makes sense--they didn't get Asante Samuel. It also lends credence to the school of thought they are taking a QB in this draft, as getting Sheppard would eliminate one other pressing need.

Ths would be a great move for Bucs, aloows them to focus on adding playmakers on offense in the draft.

I actually really like this for both teams. The Bucs get Lito, the Eagles avoid having to pay him along with Samuel and Brown, and that #2 pick could be a huge help.

Now it looks as if the Jags are trying to get Lito as well.

I really love what the Jags are doing so far this off season, they have brought in Greg Williams, Porter, Florence, Harvey, Groves, and now they are trying to get Lito. The defense has so much promise now with the hopefully improved pass rush and what would be a stacked secondary of Rashean Mathis, LIto, Brian Williams, Reggie Nelson, Florence, Scotty Starkes, and Trae Williams.

I saw an interesting proposal and I wonder if it would be possible, but could Cincinnati trade Chad Johnson to the Eagles for Lito Sheppard and a first-rounder next year? (Not CAR's; PHI's own.)

That ensures depth at corner for Cincy, gets rid of a headache, and gets an extra pick to continue building that defense. The Eagles get a straight game-changer at WR who probably brings them back to the Super Bowl, and they don't mortgage the future in the process.

I don't see that happening. Cincinnati front office is incredibly stubborn but that deal isn't that great either. Lito Sheppard isn't a top need for Cincinnati. They used their last two first round picks on a cornerback. Also, Eagles' first round isn't worth a lot because Eagles are a pretty consistent team so you won't get a top pick. The rejected the Washington deal so there is no way they will go for this one.
