Now we are only 4 guys for SF/SG.... (Maybe some time to Price or Watson at SG???)

You're joking about Almond, right? He never contributed "depth" to anyone's NBA roster.

Last year the Jazz finished the season with: Korver, Matthews, AK, Miles and Jeffers, and Jeffers didn't play anything but garbage minutes.

This year the Jazz enter the season with: AK, Bell, Miles, Hayward, Evans. I don't see much difference.

Evans can guard the 2/3 spot also, so that adds to our depth. Price can play the 2 spot also, so we really aren't that thin, we just have a ton of multi position players.

Very surprised we got rid of all them, I thought for sure we would keep Gaines or Jeffers. I was never impressed with Thompson, never understand why anyone thought he had a chance.

I wonder if the Jazz are going to continue to cut salary mid season with another AK trade.

If you put names where they accually can play the chart looks more like this.

Williams / Watson / Price
Bell / Miles/Price/ Hayward/ *Williams
Kirilenko / Miles/ Hayward/ Evans
Millsap / Jefferson/ Kirilenko/ Evans
Jefferson / Fesenko / Elson / **Okur

I think the Jazz can put enough combinations out on the court with thoes player that it will be fine. If we do need to find another play then you pull a player with a hot hand in the D league like we did with Gaines last year.

*he does not like to play here is why he is last

Wonder what our rotation will look like until Memo comes back. Something like:

Deron(35)/Watson(13)
Bell(28)/Miles(20)
AK(26)/Miles(10)/Hayward(12)
Sap (32)/AK(6)/Evans (10)
Jefferson (34)/Fes or Elson (14)

I like it. A lot. Just hope we can stay healthy. Depth might become a real issue if one of our starters get injured.

Sign Gaines to a 10 day right before we play the Heat/Cavs. Just in case.

No Wesley Matthews for us this year. But, we can hope for a Millsap (Evans).
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Jerry Sloan finds making these cuts difficult bc these players all played hard and pretty well. KOC on the other hand sees these cuts as purely business. They both have the right attitude for their jobs but KOC does sound a little cold hearted.

“I think 12 healthy guys is enough,” Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor said. “The 10th, 11th, 12th guy are going to be complaining if they haven’t played enough anyway.”

He has a point. Plus, minutes for Evans and Hayward is a larger investment in the future. I'm very pleased that it looks like both will be in the regular rotation.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

KOC described Gaines cut as a "miserable" one.
That ain't cold at all.

Well, turns out we didn't need him even though the situation was calling for him.
