Suns and Dudley discussing extension

Post#1 » by Blackification » Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:44 pm

But the only confirmed new name we can add to the discussion is No. 22 Jared Dudley, whose emergence as a reliable sparkplug and fan favorite in Phoenix has established Dudley as a member of the Suns’ core, which has kept alive extension talks this month.

“We are talking and have been talking for a few weeks,” Dudley’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN.com on Thursday. “They’ve made it very clear that they want Jared to be there and Jared has made it clear to them that Phoenix is where he wants to be. Whether that means we can make a deal that makes sense for both sides, we’ll have to wait and see.”

I wonder what we'll give em. Hope we don't over do it. I'd like to keep em here though.

Well if he signs an extension I'll have to eat my words.

I'd love him, but for too much money you get to the point where we already gave Chill a healthy contract so how much can you spend on 2 players in the same role. Unless of course we plan on one of them eventually starting, then I guess you could look at it.

Well isn't dudley the back up SG now and chill the back up SF? Maybe sarver is going to try and trade jrich in the future, I remember their plan being to trade for their next superstar and he probably views having dudley for the time being as a trade option in the future better than just letting him go.

I'll just say I hope they don't over pay him. I really don't see him turning into anything more than a spot up shooter and an alright defender. Nice role player, but won't be worth all that change when Nash is gone. Hopefully I'm wrong

Um, did he not have a beyond-career year from three last year?

Get it done, guys! He's part of the future.

Get that extension done. Jared Dudley plays like a grizzled veteran...He changes games with more than just his shooting. His energy and enthusiasm off the court is something to be valued as well, IMO. Role players like Dudley are hard to come by.
