There were so many thing wrong with this game.

Playing Lee over Martin in last few minutes is dumb, especially if Martin is shooting lights out like he has been. I don't care if Martin can't create, Courtney Lee can't create either and there's no need to guard Jason Kidd.

Playing Jeffries over anybody is dumb.

Then you have Hill, who played well in the first half and as a reward he gets like three minutes in the second half? Yeah...

And finally how could you not see that play coming. I have seen the Mavs run the same play about three or four times last season and I only watch about five Mavs games a season. They even ran it during summer league.

Jeffries is only playing because the Chuck Wagon is hurt. Playing Lee over Martin is inexcusable though. Kevin Martin has not logged a single minute in the 4th quarter in this preseason. smh

i dont mind martin sitting in crunch time w/ lee taking over. he already proved he's worthy

You still sure about that?

not every game no. when he shoots like today keep him in. but a defensive game i'd give lee a try.

Can anyone tell me if making a jumping pass from the sideline is a legal move or not? Jason kidd had to do a jumping pass from the sideline because yao ming was blocking his vision and jumping. I thought jumping passes from the sideline was illegal!

That's crazy. You dont pay a guy 11 million a season to sit on the bench during the 4th quarter.

new york paid curry 11 millions to stay away from the team

Morey paid TMac $21 million last year to stay away
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

They must be showcasing Jeffries because there is no reason to play him 20 minutes a game when you got Scola/Miller/Hill/Yao.

its just a preseason game. obviously yao, scola, brooks, miller, hayes would get more minutes, and jeffreis would be lucky to play.

Watching Jeffries last night was a unique experience for me. Granted, I'm the biggest Jeffries homer since his own mama. BUT...It was the 1st time I've ever felt legitimate pity for a professional basketball player. (Not including when they get hurt or accidentally send a dong pic to TMZ.)

The guy...is...just....

...broken.

He knows where to go. On offense and defense. He rotates assignments as naturally as a duck in water. He moves to the right spot without any hesitation. It's honestly cool to see. Pretty rare stuff. Defensively, it's a thing of beauty. He gets to the spot first, then does something positive. Yay.

Offensively?

He gets there. Somebody spots him and makes the pass. He catches it. He's at the basket.

Then his head explodes. Something goes horribly awry. The rim moves. God speaks. I don't know what it is. But the ball will not go in the basket. It's uncanny. Name every mistake you can make within 3 feet of the basket. (I'll give you time to compile your lists....*humming*....)

Yeah. You missed several. I know this because I've seen Jared make them all and invent dozens of new ones. Did your list include lightning strike? Locusts? Plague?

HIS DOES.

I now feel true pity for a guy making 6.8 million dollars. Wow. Never thought it possible. I'm not even mad.

Just bone-deep empathy.

he can be a great fit off the bench with a defensive big who can protect the paint. he has the physical attributes - height, long arms, speed, size. i always thought he never had a chance to play his true position, which is not being the best or 2nd best defensive big on his team, or playing 30mpg. i still think he can crack the rotation but of corse a small chance at that. yao needs help on defense and he's perfect for that.

...just don't give him the ball. Doesn't matter how open he is. Doesn't matter WHERE he is.

No. Give. Him. Ball.

Jeffries alright. Defensively he's one of our better players. But on offense he has that deer in a headlight look about him and he can't even make layups.

Jeffries should only be limited to dunks and putbacks. It really is sad watching him miss layups every other game...

Anyone else notice that Nowitzki couldn't really back down Lee during the end of the game? Kind of pathetic when you're 6+ inches taller than someone with over 50 pounds on said person...
