Zoubek Waived By Nets

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Sat Oct 23, 2010 9:22 am

kind of reminds me when Scot Pollard was waived by a few bad teams.

i'm not sure how much much of Zoubek's game would translate to the NBA, but i like him alot better and think he could have slightly more impact than Jason Collins

Hard picks and rebounds? Yeah, we could use that.

I think his game may be better suited to the NBA than to college.

I love what Zoubek brings to the table (rebounding and setting picks), but I don't see him as a real possibility at this point. For one I don't think his foot speed meshes with what the Hawks hope to do, but neither does Collins. I hope he works on his game this year and maybe gets a shot after the lockout. Our roster is unlikely to change without an injury or a trade (and trade is unlikely as well).

EDIT - I meant unlikely to change. Fixing it now.

Well, evil, since we agree on his assets (wasn't that interesting?), let me point out that a motion offense thrives with a great pick-setter. Even if Zoubek is left undefended, Joe could just rub his man off on Zoubek and be wide open.

Let me clarify I actually agree and a strong rebounder can lead to outlet passes and breaks even if they don't run the floor well. The hole is his game is getting back on defense because of that foot speed. Although it could be argued that a guy who tries hard and is slow is less damaging than an athletic player who lolligags. I just think that this foot speed issue would result in him getting no minutes (just like Jason Collins). If we wanted to sign and stash and develop for the future (like Boston signing Tiny Gallon) it would be smart, but with 14 under contract a signing just isn't going to happen (we are very much penny wise as selling the #31 pick shows).
