What's the difference between Andersen and Bargnani?

Post#1 » by narmsanity » Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:12 pm

Granted it being preseason... I saw a lot of similarities in how both of them play... Obviously there are differences in how both play but the "ability to stretch the D" similarity is intriguing.. Andersen seemed to be stronger on help D and rebounding and was still able to knock down that outside shot.... He can definitely post-up which is encouraging to see... Bargnani can obviously put the ball on the floor a lot better and create his own shot but it will be interesting to see how they both play in comparison to one another once the season starts..... Andersen is pretty much a Bargnani 2.0 IMO but I think BC found a steal... Again.. it WAS preseason but it will be interesting to see how that unfolds....

Complete steal by BC for getting Andersen or complete gaff by drafting andrea?

BC: so I see you played Andrea quite a bit there when he was struggling
Casey: yeah I know, we needed spacing
BC: play him more (walks away)

Bargnani has a twitter account (he hasn't spoken directly with Amir Johnson since late July)

The hate by the raptors fans on bargnani is quite ridiculous.

We should probably out bid everyone and offer David Andersen 10 million before he hits the open market.

ones a better role player than the other

Bargnani - he's got way more offensive arsenal than just a just jumpshot and has a lil post up game. You can tell the talents there

Anderson- straight up role player that shoots open jumpers, rebounds well and hustles

If you want a real comparison,
Andersen is a taller Hump, with a slightly better range.
He busts his butt on defense, then all of a sudden thinks he's MJ on offense.

His shot selection is questionable, and a guy who is 30 should know better then to take a contested three with 18 seconds left on the shotclock.

We always tend to fall in love with guys after one game.
We love the 5-10 against the Knicks, but gloss over the 2-7 against Philly?

Andersen has a lot of hustle of the defensive end then most of our bench, and we should be glad we got him for 1/5th of Turk, but lets not blow this out of proportion.

Bargnani > Andersen:
- a much much better shooter, able to shoot over Howard, Dalembert at the 3 (top in the league in 3s)
- a much better ball handler, he can drive past most bigs, but Andersen can't, and in pre-season, he got stopped by opponent bigs and forced shots around the low post (above average PF/C in the league)
- a much better face up game with his foot work (above average PF/C in the league)
- a much better man defender (above average PF/C in the league)
- a faster, quicker player, he runs the floor better than Andersen with quick hands (above average PF/C in the league)

Andersen > Bargnani
- a much better rebounder (means average in the league)
- a much better help defender (means average in the league)
- a much better energy player (means average in the league)

Andersen - average in the league
Bargnani - bottom in the league in something, top in the league in something, has the potential to improve the other weaknesses (except rebounding).

The only difference that matters on this board is that Andersen, unlike Bargnani, has a blank slate.

These threads are getting crazier and crazier, Bargnani is a VERY good player, bad rebounder for a 7 footer yes. But he is a very good player nonetheless.

I don't understand what this crazy hate is all about.

He is always going to have a deficiency in rebounding, and probably in help defence too but i mean seriously...are you guys for real?

I always new this board was as bi-polar as it gets, but to be trashing a guy like this before the regular season even starts, is bananas. Maybe colangelo should trade him... other teams fans might appreciate a 7 footer who can shoot the three, and take the ball to the basket consistently.

he's been averaging like 17 pts the last three preseason games, in about 26/27 minutes, thats almsot 10 minutes less playing time than he averaged all last year.

The overall comparison is WAY closer than it should be because Andersen plays to the limits of his meagre talent and Il Mago doesn't come close to utilizing his own skill-set.

If Bargs hustled and played close to limits of his capabilities, he would be an all-star, easy.
