Bargs has better foot work... also people have gotten this weird misconception that Bargnani is athletic...
he is not athletic, he has a respected jump shot that allows him to get past slower bigs, which makes him seem more mobile and quick.

This is exactly the kind of topic that will set off a debate. Its a ridiculous comparison no matter how you slice it. Bargnani is going to have a great game soon and this thread will become a pissing contest.

Guys I hear this Will Solomon character is quite the player, he was better than kobe in preseason so Solomon >>>>>>>>>>>kobe. i think we can all agree on that.

If talking in comparison to Big Dave Andersen, Bargnani is freakin athletic. I've seen a lot of Andersen believe me.

Meh. Anderson knows his limitations so you'll rarely see him attempt somthing stupid with the ball off a dribble. Bargs' problem is that he underestimates himself and overestimates the defense infront of him. Not many people can stay on him from 12' out, which he can exploit like crazy, but opts for giving it up most of the time

Re: What's the difference between Andersen and Bargnani?
Andersen is nothing special. BUT he looks so much better whan compared to Bargs becuase he does "center things" like rebounding and help D SOOOO much better than Bargs while still actually being quite average at those things.
Its more of a sad commentary on just how bad Bargs is at "center things" than it is any endorment of Andersen. I mean when a guy who's at best a 3rd string center on most teams is actually better by a large margin at certain important things than your starting center you know you have problems.

Re: What's the difference between Andersen and Bargnani?
I don't think it has anything to do with doing "center things". Both players are poor centers.
The biggest difference is moving your feet, having a nose for the ball, reacting to changes that occur, hustling to the right spot to grab a rebound or taking a charge.
Bargnani is just kind of slow mentally. His mind doesn't seem to react quickly enough to get his body moving for a hustle play. He is just really poor at multitasking & is always a step or two behind.
Maybe this is why Bargnani is a decent man to man defender, but a very poor help defender. When you're guarding your man, all you have to do is focus on that one thing & usually guarding big men means slow, methodical movements.
Help defense on the other hand, you need to anticipate the play before it happens & react very quickly when it does. For some reason, he just can make adjustments quickly enough.

Bargs on an off night is comparable to Anderson.
Bargs on an avg or good night is not even close.

Re: What's the difference between Andersen and Bargnani?
I don't care if Brags can shoot better, at least Andersen knows and understands how to play the center position. I say we start Andersen over Brags just to make a major statement. Brags needs to earn his minuets and as of right now I would say Brags has been one of our worst players in preseason. One thing is for sure they are both backups in this league, Brags should never start on a NBA team even on one as bad as ours.
I'm sorry to all those Brags lovers but your boy sucks my b....z

Andersen looks so fluid. He has a very unique skill set and can stretch the defense. I've never seen a big man move the way he does. Reminds me a lot of Dirk. I think he hasn't been used properly throughout his career and will be a star eventually.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

This is the Houston Rockets board reaction to him getting traded
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1041726
He was basically traded because it saved the Rockets 5 million in luxury tax money

Re: What's the difference between Andersen and Bargnani?
I don't think he was used right in Houston. Rick Adelman was holding him back. Just kept yanking him out of the game over and over again for no reason. He just needs to be the first option and he wasn't going to be that in Houston.

Least that could be said about his time in Houston is that he developed (or kept) a good work ethic. He was merely a garbage time option there--and with the future investment they had in Jeffries/Hill after the trade you can't really blame them. Or it could just be that Chuck Hayes stole all his rebounds and shots.

Well that doesn't mean much if you compare it to the future thread on this board when/if Bargnani ever gets traded.
