Could have done Baron for Williams & Moon?
Looking back on it now, would you guys have done Baron Davis for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon?

Yes.
Also, I don't think it was our decision to make. The Cavs offered the trade to entice Lebron if HE were to STAY. So, he had to commit to stay before the trade was to be negotiated with us...
Yeah, Lebron's a jerk.

No I'm glad we didn't do it. If LeBron really likes Baron then maybe we were in better standing on his list. I still wish he would have told the Cavs that he was just leaving.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

As bad as Baron has played so far in LA, he's better than Mo Williams. Mo looks good cause of LeBron. WAtch Mo this year suck it up!

I guess I'm alone in this, but i would have done the trade. Mo williams isn't that bad, he was solid pretty much as the main guy or co-main guy (with redd) in milwakee before he went to the cavs and his play making skills are solid (we haven't seen much of it recently because of how ball dominant lebron is) Plus hes a strong spot up 3 point shooter, something baron isn't.
Moon is also a very underrated player, and would definitely be a serviceable rotation guy, a good defensive minded SF who doesn't need the ball to be effective.

Davis is a better talent but Williams is more consistent and a better shooter. Besides, I think the Clippers need to get rid of Baron so the offense can go through Gordon and Griffin.

Nope. MoWill plays worse D than Baron and Moon is just another Al Thornton type player.

I wouldve done it. Breaking up BD's contract in two smaller ones makes it easier to shed salaries. Also, we need to focus on rebuilding in OKC's mold: trade away older guys and start over building around Griffin and EJ.

It sure would have been nice to have a point guard that could shoot over 40% and have a swingman that is defensive minded and would have been better than what Gomes has shown us so far

Re: Could have done Baron for Williams & Moon?
i'm going with the "no" crowd. the salary relief sounds nice and jamario moon is a solid rotation player but imo mo williams is a clear downgrade from baron davis and moon alone isn't enough to make up the disparity in talent. certainly mo is the better shooter in all respects but the team would be losing its only vocal floor leader and #1 playmaker in exchange.
i also don't think his contract is nearly as bad as some make it out to be, at least not enough to diminish his trade value so much that they need to settle for a talent downgrade and some minor salary relief. consider that mo's remaining contract is about 27 million over 3 years while baron sits on roughly 40 million over 3 years assuming that neither player exercises their early termination options (the most likely case). mo's got a player option in his final year but it's difficult to imagine that he won't activiate it unless he plays at a significantly higher level, in which case he'll be looking for an even bigger deal. lastly, it's not like it'll be all that difficult unloading baron's contract in his 5th year; he's likely to be playing at a similar level to the past 2 seasons so he'll at least have some value as a player, he'll have value as an expiring contract, and his eto is in his final year, which lends out the possibility that he might opt out to gain long-term security ala richard jefferson.
jamario moon is a dime-a-dozen type in terms of his on court production and can be easily replaced in the free agent market. not that he's bad by any means, but he's not particularly valuable nor unique.
considering that baron's value is the lowest it's ever been, this would be a textbook case of buying high and selling low.

Really?
So far I've seen a guy that has guided the team to 19 and 29 wins, while being totally out of shape during his first year with us.
He lost some weight, but Baron still looks one step slow and that's no good sign for a guy who's game's relying heavily on athletesicm.
Sure Baron's the better playmaker of those two, but I'd rather have a guy like Williams(and Moon on top of it) because he can shoot it from beyond the three point line and that's something we're really missing at the moment.
BTW: Though, that's all just speculation here and wouldn't have ever been really on the table, cause the Cavs would've only done that trade if Lebron would've given them his word to re-sign with them.

Re: Could have done Baron for Williams & Moon?
you're on point on baron's weaknesses and this team need for a legitimate deep threat. still, i think this squad would really miss baron's ability to run the team. despite his physical regression and shooting woes, he's still one of the best playmakers in the league. 8 apg with last year's roster and coaching, or lack of of, is pretty damn impressive. but as you said, it's all speculation now.
