Dear God no. We'd still be stuck with Hamilton's contract at the end of 2010 and Zbo is a pretty important part of the Grizzlies offense.

counter offer:
Haddadi, Carroll and cash for Wilcox and 2nd round pick

Trade Proposal from Portland:

Andre Miller - a proven PG will definitely improve offensive and defensive productions
Dante Cunningham - a versatile forward and very cheap

for

Mike Conley Jr.
Demarre Carroll
Dammit...:

I've got Nurkic fever now.

Or instead of Carroll, we could get back Haddadi in return seeing as how it's a good chance Przybilla will be dealt around February.

Would hurt our perimeter shooting though.

But I wouldn't be against (or for) the trade.

O.J. Mayo for Terrence Williams.

On the surface it's gonna seem absurd to some, but if Terrence shows the marked improvement this year that I think he's going to, it's going to make a lot of sense for both teams and won't seem like a reach at all once the shock of dealing Mayo for anyone but an established star fades.

Mayo gives NJ a more legit scoring option to pair with Brook, Williams gives Memphis a serious playmaker/defender that impacts the game without scoring to put next to Conley and Gay.

Tell you what, how about Darrell Arthur for Brook Lopez? I mean, DA could really step it up.

And it's not just absurd on the surface, it's utter crap through and through.

There's no similarity at all in your sarcastic response.

I have a feeling you haven't seen T Will play and I also think you're one of those that highly overrate Mayo.

We'll see once the season starts and Williams is averaging 14/6/6/1/1 in 30mpg, while Mayo is putting up his usual 18/3/3 in 40mpg.

I'm not trying to knock Mayo as a player either, nor hype up T Will too much, but I think you're going to the two opposite extremes.

I've seen Williams play, and he's no OJ Mayo. I get to watch OJ night in/night out. His game is similar to Battier's in that, you need to see him in person (IMO) to really appreciate him. Williams may well develop to be a good player. That said, I don't think OJ's hit his ceiling yet.

Weaksauce offer, IMO.

I've watched Mayo a ton and I appreciate him a lot, thank you much.
That's why I made the trade offer. :)

I think Mayo and Williams will be similar level players in a couple seasons, I just think Mayo's style would be a great fit with Lopez and vice versa with T Will on Memphis.

That said, although I would do this trade without looking back right now, I would be hesitant to do it if Williams is showing himself in the fashion I proclaimed a few posts earlier.

You're right when you say Williams is no O.J. Mayo. Terrence has a much better handle, is a better athlete is the obviously superior playmaker and passer, is better in transition and has much better prototypical shooting guard size and has the potential to be a much better defender.

That said, my point and goal was not to demean or tear down Mayo. The reasons I like him for my team are the one's you were alluding to, his intangibles. I think Mayo is a very underrated on ball defender, he is the much superior shooter, I feel he is a born leader and has already shown the humility to defer to other players while still heavily contributing and still has the better ability and potential to be a second or third option.

Obviously I'm not going to convince you on this trade, but at least let me try to sway you into becoming a Terrence Williams fan. If you have League Pass or watch games online try to catch a number of Nets games. The team will be much improved this season and T Will figures to be a large part of that, he's a highly entertaining player to watch as well.

simply say,

If you think T.will is prospective that much, just keep him.

For me, he is just bust and suck player. Both he and his team are suck. How dare you to attempt to steal our most precious player with just nothing but bust guard?

Griz is much better team than Nets is,
we don't have any reason to support you by accepting that blatant trade deal.

This is just scam. It would be the most absurd scam ever since Pau Gasol trade.

FYI, Griz is well utilizing OJ. He is not the player as you try to attempt to delude us. OK?

I'd think that deal again if you add Brook Lopez

Terrence Williams is a heck of a good player and I feel he will really improve from last season. But it makes no sense for Memphis to trade for him with Mayo being the more proven, well rounded player. Plus with Henry, Allen and Young they are set at the position Williams plays.

But I certainly wouldn't diminish Williams. He's very good.

T-Will is the goods. He's just got to improve that wack jumper of his.

Whether or not the rumor was true, reported by a Bay Area newspaper/Denied by the Grizz GM/Not dismissed by the Grizz owner though, MOST (not all, but most) Grizz fans did not like it. Although Monta is a very, very good player, OJ is still on his rookie deal, they are both undersized SG's and Monta's game (scoring) would likely be curbed somewhat by the current Grizz roster. Additionally, some of us aren't enthused by adding a player who seriously injured himself on a moped. Not a mountain bike or a motorcycle, a freaking moped.

Would you guys do a Gordon and Mcgrady for Thabeet and Allen?

I wouldn't.

Allen was brought in specifically for defense and leadership, neither of which (IMO) McGrady or Gordon would provide. Gordon essentially duplicates what OJ already gives the Grizz (to what degree is arguable). And as much as Thabeet was the wrong player for what the Grizz needed at that high of a pick, he still could have decent ROI in the long run. Not saying he'll ever be worth the 2nd overall pick from that draft class, but quite possibly better than "throw in" status to make a trade work.

Definitely agree. I don't see any advantage to this proposal for the Grizzlies. Adding Ben Gordon to Mayo, Henry, and Young just congests a position even more.

And seeing Gasol go out with an injury( a minor one I hope) justifies keeping Thabeet around. I think other teams fans get a wrong opinion of Thabeet's worth to Memphis with Gasol establishing himself last season as their center. I see in an article today Tony Barone reconfirmed yet again that they knew Thabeet would be a three year project and they want to keep him. Nothing has changed and they are prepared to stick with their draft pick unless it's an absolute no brainer of an offer from someone.
