Just goes to show that guys with all world talent are human beings like the rest of us, for better or worse. You have your Bill Russells who would absolutely refuse to make eye contact or sign autographs and send kids away crying, and you have other superstars like Wilt Chamberlain who would walk all around the arena after a game searching for a kid he had promised an autograph to earlier.

From everything I have read it seems like Wall is basically a good kid, and I think he'll get better and more at ease with these kinds of events pretty quickly.

At this point in time I hope he plays his whole career here.

that said, I met him last night at the planholders party at 6 flags.

make of this as much or as little as you wish

He seems a bit shy more than anything else. All this attention is a lot to handle for most 20 year olds.

I'm just happy he smiles the entire time he's on the court almost, haven't seen someone obviously enjoy playing the game this much since Arenas 4 years ago.........good stuff.

The social/fan interaction stuff has to be overwhelming at 20 years old.

Yes, cut Wall all the slack in the world: The kid can do no wrong right now. Just wait til he breaks one of your moral rules then.. oh my.

Edit: Post was off topic. This is a place to appreciate a phenomenal young player we were lucky to get, not to argue tangential issues about a different player entirely.

John Wall has looked WAY better so far in the pre-season than I expected him. Under control and aggressive at the same time. Can I say again how glad I am we drafted him? =D

Amen.

I've been impressed most by his basketball IQ and vision. He is absolutely a pure point guard, just one augmented with elite athletic ability.

Yeah, it was a quality post from Illuminaire, that's for sure. I respect his decision to edit it though.

just to clarify or reiterate

I couldn't be happier JW is here. He was not at all rude. He was probably
tired and could well also just be shy as another suggested.

And J.R Smith wanted to go by "Earl Smith Jr." or something like that. Flash is Wade's nickname, whether he likes it or not.

Wall on #wizards:"We dont have no go-to player like most teams in NBA. We don’t have 1 person that can go out & carry this team for 48mins."

Refreshing honesty from Wall.

Honesty from PGs is the new trend :) Nash said he doesn't see the Suns as a play-off team.

I think Flash is fitting for Wall. 8-)

It does seem fitting, though it is a bit weird taking away another player's nickname, even if they don't plan on using it any more.

Sticking with the comics idea, how about "The Speeding Bullet"?

Johnny BALLGAME. Vs sixers: 29, 13ast, and 9 steals. Breaks wiz record of steals per game. Breaks NBA record of assists in first 3 games to debut career. Kid is damn good.

I'd like to predict that there will NEVER be an amazingly sucky thread for John Wall. Just don't see how it could be possible.
