They're both signed for the next 4 years with Gortat making a bit less each year
We know Morey likes him.
With the possibility of Fran Vasquez coming next year the Magic might want to clear some cap room for him now by acquiring JJ's expiring contract. They also drafted Daniel Orton to back up Dwight Howard.

Jared Jeffries + Jermaine Taylor = Marcin Gortat

Varejao's salary this year and the next 3 years: $7m, $7.7m, $8.4m, $9.1m (with a team option for a 5th year at $9.8m)
Gortat's salary this year and the next 3 years: $6.3m, $6.8m, $7.3m and $7.7m

Magic wouldn't do that trade.

Anyway, I heard Cavs aren't trading Varejao unless they're getting a star back, which is stupid.. I don't see anyone offering a star for an overpaid Varejao.

I guess by bringing in Varejao would mean bye bye to Chuckwagon? Not sure I like that. As far as a potential trade. I'd do Jefferies & Hill for AV. Thats the most Id give up for him. Cleveland will likely end up keeping him if they value him that much.
