Devin Ebanks
I think you guys got a MAJOR steal. I know it's preseason, but I think he's better than DeRozan already... the guy has star potential, and with Kobe managing his ego, he'll become a star...
What do you guys think?

Definitely a steal. Better than DeRozan now? Eh, not yet.

Re: Devin Ebanks
Star? Maybe in the way that Trevor Ariza is a "star." You are also over reacting. Way over reacting. Give him a few years and some real NBA competition and we'll see what happens.

I dont think he'll be a star but I do think he'll be better then Ariza offensively.....I"m not sure why Ariza didn't get his chance in Orl/NY but he didn't and his shot was suspect until he got here. Ebanks shot is already at or above Ariza lvl when he 1st got here. If he improves on his 3 pt shooting I think he can be a solid guy like say Battier/Pietrus type guy.

Re: Devin Ebanks
For now it's just nice to see a rookie on the Lakers looking like they belong out there. Ebanks just needs to keep playing within himself and he should hopefully earn minutes...someday....

Ebanks looks fantastic. I was ecstatic when we drafted him, especially at 43.

Re: Devin Ebanks
I have high hopes for him, i want him to develop into a potential star, if Ebanks and Caracter develop into awesome players, and Bynum finds his knees, the Lakers have a fantastic young future core. But thats a long shot.

Re: Devin Ebanks
I would rather have a player on the team who has some experience to play his position. I just hope we are not using his spot in hopes he does well. He is here due to the fact he is cheap. Anything we get from him is a plus. The next Trevor. Only a few years will tell that. I am saying 30 percent yes and 70 percent no right now. Let him be him and not someone else.

Re: Devin Ebanks
During the season and playoffs, he won't get much playing time, as Artest and Barnes pick up the minutes at the SF position. I expect him to truly blossom once Phil Jackson is not head coach. We all know he doesn't like to play rookies. Phil did say, however, that he might experiment with Ebanks at the guard position.
I do like his game though. He's like a Durant-type player, with his length and athleticism.

Re: Devin Ebanks
I appreciate the input from an outsider. I think we did get a steal and I also think that when he gets minutes this season (blowouts), he'll prove himself to be a more than serviceable player. If he can get to Ariza's status, I'll be absolutely thrilled.

Re: Devin Ebanks
All we need from him is solid defense and to hit that open 3 like Trevor did but I doubt he gets a lot of minutes this year

He's a steal for the 43rd spot, not as much as a player. A decent bench guy at best

He's been looking really good, then I got excited, then I thought, let me see how he looks during regular season.

Re: Devin Ebanks
Its hard for us not to overrate a rookie since we have been in rookie neglect since Crit. We have traded or sold our rookies for so long that a 2nd round pick who is probably mid 1st round talent gets us thinking star.
Heck I'll be impressed if he is a STARter.

Re: Devin Ebanks
This dude got a very high ceiling to becoming someone really special in this league.
He pretty much hit the jackpot becoming a Laker.
When Devin becomes a 10 year veteran he could say when he came into the league his mentors were Kobe, Ron, Matt, and Lamar.
