Official Timberwolves Board Introduction Thread
With a new season starting and a lot of activity over the offseason, we've had an influx of new posters on the board. We've got fans of Rubio from Spain, fans of Beasley from Florida, fans of the Balkan Bros. from all over, fans of Minnesota, and fans of other teams curious about how the young pups will do this year. It seems like a good time to do an introductions thread again. So, with that, I'll start us off:
NAME: Canis lupus (I also answer to John)
OCCUPATION: Apex Predator/Ecologist/GIS Specialist
VITAL STATS: I've been a basketball fan since about 1979-80. I remember watching the classic Magic-Bird battles. I grew up in Houston and was a big Rockets fan for years. I followed Hakeem's career from when he was first recruited to University of Houston and he is still my favorite player of all time. When I moved to Minnesota in 1991, I decided I better start rooting for the home team so I became a TWolves fan and have been a fan ever since (while still cheering Dream on to his ultimate success in the mid 90s).
So that's a bit about me. Your turn. Go.

AGE: 20
OCCUPATION: Just started studying economics. Also work for a cinema.
HOMECOUNTRY: Germany
VITAL STATUS: Started following the Wolves a bit after I played with them in my Nintendo 64 game NBA Courtside in the late 90's. I also liked the Seattle Supersonics but I've been done with them ever since they traded Ray Allen (my favourite player along with KG) and moved to OKC.

Name - Ryan Whittaker
Occupation - Student
Vital Stats - From the UK and took a liking to basketball about 6/7 years ago, coming from the UK we rarely get the chance to watch Basketball on the TV but when the opportunity rises I end up stopping up until 4/5am. Started supporting the Timberwolves purely by chance if I'm honest, it was during Dwayne Casey's reign when I started to take more interest..so just before the KG trade. My favourite players I've watched for the T'Wolves are Eddie Griffin (had potential..an absolute tragedy that off the court he had such big problems), Ricky Davis (always remember his dunks and exciting plays for us..the 4 point play sticks out to me too) and KG. Visited America on holiday a couple of years ago (Orlando) and watched my first ever live game and it just made my love for Basketball even more. Sadly couldn't get to the O2 arena this year as I was working that day but would've given the world to go! Looking forward to the new season and hopefully it can be better than the dross last year. HUGE soccer fan may I add, follow my team Burnley Football Club home and away. Been a lurker on here for a few months but you guys seem a lot more clued up so I keep my opinions to myself.
Sorry for the essay!

Vital Stats- Loving the game of basketball and playing on amateur level myself. Following NBA, Euroleague, NLB Adriatic league and Serbian league. Devoted Blazers fan after game 1 in 2010 playoffs Blazers-Suns after sympathyzing with that team throughout most of the season. Catched up with the Wolves and this board alike since Darko Milicic joined it in February.
Being an ethnic Serb, i've noticed that its not a stretch to claim that Milicic is not the most popular player amongst serbian bbfans and most of them do not want him near the National team for the infamous YT video, irrespective of his player qualities. I ofcourse, refuse to negatively label a person based on a single setback/unfortunate event, especially when it comes to athletes. Darko has long been one of my favorite players and i would be delighted if he will finally fulfill his potential in Minnesota. The team has my sympathies ever since and it has definetly not declined after Pekovic reinforced it.
cheers

Yeah, we're all like Lamar Odom. Pretending to know the game of basketball and then doing that stuff:

"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

<-------Name (direct your eyes just below the little Rubio Jesus)
Occupation:
Graphic designer by day, drummer and hardcore Wolves junkie by night
From:
Cold and windy NoDak, USA (for the next year and a half anyway)
Vitals:
I've been following the NBA since I was just a wee little lad and the Wolves since the early 90's. I've been a true hardcore Wolves fan since about 2001-2002.
Every winter (growing up in MN) I shoveled the snow off my driveway as a young child to practice bball as I always dreamed of being an NBA player someday. When I got old enough to start playing HS bball my dreams were crushed. It turns out there were a few things holding me back from succeeding... I was a little too slow, too short, and too "not very good" at bball in general. Now I just live my NBA dream vicariously through the Timberwolves and my favorite NBA players. Maybe I identified with the team the last couple years because they were too slow, short, and generally "not good!" As my sig says... I'm usually optimistic to a fault, especially when it comes to the Wolves.
I post a lot on KFAN Wolves Chat, but I really appreciate the different tone of this forum. So I hope to start posting and interacting here as well. I just can't get enough Wolves talk at one forum!
Disclaimer:
Any mention of Gerald Wallace may elicit irrational and annoyingly over-exuberant posts from me. I cannot be held responsible for this. I apologize in advance, but it is out of my control.
