Rate my Draft - #1 pick

Post#1 » by creative1 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:05 am

I got lucky for the first time in my 7 year NBA Fantasy career and got first pick. I could not be happier that i got it this year and was easily able to take Durant with no second-thought. I think this might be the best team I've ever assembled as almost every player on my team is poised for a significant increase in fantasy stats. I've also got an incredibly good FT% & FTM team, which I've never had really on any team. I should be dominate in PTS, 3PTM, FTM, FT% and should be able to compete in RBS, BLKS, STLS, FG%. I always punt TO's so that doesn't concern me. Here's my squad in a 10 team, H2H, standard cats + FTM with the 1st pick in the draft:

PG's
C. Billups
D. Collison
B. Jennings
DJ Augustin

SG's
J. Salmons
E. Gordon
J. Harden

SF's
K. Durant
C. Maggette
(Salmons is eligible here also)

PF/C's
A. Horford
J. Noah
R. Hibbert
C. Frye

Please let me know your feedback. The categories I could see improvement on are RBS and ASSTS as my I only have 4 big men and my PG's are not necessarily pass first, elite assist producers. I think Collison should come around nicely and Billups/Jennigs/Augustin can help me compete.

Thanks for the feedback guys... it's amazing how many people take the time to read the post but not leave any feedback.

Lol.

I like the team. I like seeing guys like Augustin, Harden, and esp Hibbert near the bottom of those names.

Either you have a small league, or you got super lucky, that is a monster squad right there.

This is a 10 team, H2H league so it's a little smaller than the average 12 team league. It's not that small though and the managers are very competitive.

You have four players (Durant, Billups, Horford, and Noah) who are top 30 players and another who is top 40 (Collison). Given that you have 1st pick, you must have also had 20th pick, 21st pick, 40th pick, and 41st pick.

It is pretty hard to believe you all five of those guys, and to that point even Jennings at 60th pick, in a competitive league.

The roster is good though.

Also, do you think I should look at trading Billups for J. Kidd? I could use an elite assist producer like Kidd who would also replace Billups 3's and steals. I passed him up in the draft for Billups but now I'm wondering if I should have taken Kidd instead. I like my PG's but they don't produce elite level assists (Collison might this year). I guess Jennings should increase his assists as well this year so maybe I'll be alright? I'm pretty sure the other manager would take Kidd... but I drafted Chauncey because I think he's due for a monster year, especially when Melo leaves. I really like Billups' game all around and I think he complements Durant well. I guess I can wait a few weeks and see how I'm competing on assists.
