so is the game blacked out indefinitely on league pass for people in NC? or does it become available in a few hours or something.

DJ was so bad. I was more than rooting for him to have a legit shot at the starting job but it's obvious he's just not gonna make it. This is not preseason. Watching kidd on the other side at age 37 basically do whatever he wanted with the ball was kinda painful. Other than that, it was a typical bobcats opener...

Thats a big problem right now. But my guess at some point (hopefully soon) we will make a trade. There was a reason why we tried to trade for Devin Harris in the off season and it's because DJ is not a good point guard. Our front office recognizes this, LB does too so that means we will explore every opportunity to bring in someone better. It's only a matter of time before we find a willing trade partner.

^ Harris had 22 pts, 9 assists last night and made some big plays for NJ. That Detroit, NJ game was the most entertaining one of the night.

I expected DJ to get thoroughly outplayed by Kidd but 18 assist and only 1 to for Kidd at 37 years of age. Wow

Well the only way we get him is if Melo suddenly decides he wants to play for the Nets...which as of now it does not look like he wants to go there. I don't think we're a good fit trading wise without Denver involved. Hopefully there's another point guard out there we can get, otherwise it's going to be a very long season. Not a bad thing because I wouldn't mind if we somehow managed to get a top 3 pick. But I doubt our front office will go into tank mode, probably will explore a trade before it gets to that point.

Except that DJ didn't play on Kidd.

DJ was getting lit up by Terry.

Wait for it ... wait for it ... the first "blow it up 2010" thread will be here soon.

Dmutombo and Bass ought to be wrapping up their first draft any second now...

I realize you’re being tongue in cheek Walt but your post implies, as you have in the past, that I’m one of those impulsive fans who rides high on cloud 9 when things are going well but is ready to hit the detonator whenever there’s a bad loss.

That couldn’t be further from the truth; with this capped out/plateaued/mediocre Bobcats team, I’ve been unwaveringly ready to hit the detonator consistently for the past three seasons.

I derive satisfaction from watching teams who are assembled responsibly and are building for something great - even if the payoff horizon is a season or two down the road. This is why I followed the Hornets during their years here and rooted for them as Bob Bass masterfully assembled a couple rosters that had a legitimate chance at winning the East. This is also why I also took notice of the Sonics/Thunder when Presti took over back in 2007 and have followed them since. This year, I expect to get the same type of satisfaction from fiscally responsible, well managed teams like the Kings/Nets/Pacers.

Bobcats fans who think that this roster, as presently constructed, will ever achieve anything beyond 1st round playoff cameos are blinded by their love for the team and are not being intellectually honest with themselves.

Are you still clinging to the delusional belief that the Bobcats will advance to the second round of the playoffs before the Oklahoma City Thunder per our friendly wager from April Walt?

When is the last time a team went an entire season without some kind of change in their lineup? It doesn't happen often. Even if it's just a certain player moving up in rotation because of advancement in skill (or another player's decline) you can't expect things to stay the same.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. I of course recognize that there will be minor fluctuations in the rotation and some superficial trades here and there.

When I say presently constructed, I'm referring to the teams core: Jackson/Wallace/DJ/Tyrus.
Simply trading for or signing ancillary pieces to place around those core players is not going to be sufficient to propell us to the second round.

Jackson and Wallace, plus another player of their caliber is second round material. I think Tyrus and DJ both have higher ceilings than we've seen from them. I hope to be proven right but it's a wait-and-see kind of thing. Next season is uncertain though. I like the core's flexibility and trade potential.

...trade potential? We have no tradeable assets right now, everyone is overpaid or has a long-term deal except for Mohammed and Diaw. Our young players look horrible. We will not be snagging any all-star talent this year, at best we can upgrade our role players in exchange, yet again, for cap space down the road.

We traded the future to make the playoffs and salvage the team financially. It was probably the right decision, but let's not delude ourselves about how this season, or next, are going to end.
