ESPN is also reminding me why I hate their basketball coverage. They can't let a dead ball go by w/o fellating whoever the most marketable player on the court is(Durant and Griffin in tonight's case). TNT was only guilty of this when it came to Doug Collins/Kobe but it's status quo for ESPN.

ESPN is going down to South Beach for their season opener.
Blake Griffin is on the fast track to becoming ESPNs baby (hes really good, btw)
During the Chi-OKC game the only game they gave a score alert on was the Heat game. I cant take this shat.

+1 on the ESPN coverage. I have the game on behind me while I work and I'm considering Blake Griffin for sainthood. He's very good, but I don't need the constant repetition of how great he is. And my god was the halftime highlights of other games depressing. How does Stuart Scott still have a job?

One good line late:
"If you go to bed tonight with a Clipper fan there's cause for hope." He quickly corrected himself by restating it "as a Clipper fan", but that first blurt made it out there.

I don't want to jump to conclusions after the 1st game....but Chris Sheridan is a ****** idiot for picking Washington ahead of us. They may not have an above average starter on their roster besides Arenas(and that may be a stretch).

To me, Washington's pieces seem better on paper than on the floor (poor meshing of talent), but then again it was against Orlando which routinely makes the Hawks look like a D league team.

Is it just me or are the Magic really good? THey ran a train in the preseason and they destroyed the Wiz. If they do damage @ MIA off a back to back, im sold.

They've looked damn good. BTW, tonight's game in Miami isn't sold out. Season freakin' opener with that much star power with Orlando in town and not sold out. If anyone criticizes Atlanta fans again I'm going to respond with "Miami!" We are by no means the worst city for fans. Things like this will intensify the hatred of other fan bases in those stars could have gathered in multiple cities (NY, NJ, Chicago) with intense and large fan bases instead they chose no state income tax and beaches.

The Heat box-office still had more than 400 unsold seats for the opener, and a spokeswoman said she does not expect any sellouts at home for the rest of the season thanks to late releases of tickets by the team. http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/10/29/1 ... z13m2AXwbu

Did anyone else laugh when Quentin Richardson was boo'd during the opening lineup? I bet 75 percent of the people there don't even realize he played for them last year.

I must have just left the room when that happened.

We'll see if Orlando can turn things around during the second half. I expected Miami to be up by 5 going into the half (just like the game line) and cover. I hope Orlando proves me wrong and comes out with a run early during the second half.

Thanks for explaining it. I feel silly about my rant, but not enough to apologize to the Miami fans.

I s anyone else a little confused at the reaction to Conley's extension? It's not amazing value....but it's not even close to being the terrible contract it's made out to be by the general board.

I think Conley's contract was that bad and I say that as someone who thinks he would have been a really nice piece for another team to buy low on this past offseason. But to me you don't give out a 5 year contract to a role player unless your hand is forced or unless you feel like you are locking the player in below market value. Particularly when he will likely be a Restricted free agent the next offseason. And particularly when the new CBA could be far more friendly to the team.

To me Conley got rewarded based on 3 games rather then the previous 3 years. Shortest contract drive in history but it worked. I am wondering who they were bidding against. I was confident that someone would have offered Horford max or near max as an RFA. I was sure Conley would fare no better than Felton and was more likely an MLE level player as an RFA.

Watching Philly-Wash on league pass and I am beginning to doubt if it will ever end.

John Wall has almost had a double-double in every game this season, but he finally got his first one tonight. This young man is so much fun to watch.

Makes me regret not drafting him in fantasy.

That Washington team WILL be dangerous in the very-near future.

I waited too late to draft him.

I expected good numbers from him, but I wanted other players first, so we'll see if his legs last the length of the season.

KG leaves the court, Jennings comes over to talk to him, and puts his hand on him, and KG throws his arms up again.
