Well now I know how the young wolves respond to their first back to back on the road. Can't say I'm shocked. Good game for you guys. Hopefully Minny will put up a better effort next time.

I would not worry too much just yet. You are missing your starting point guard, and you are playing back to back road games against a team that is on a bit of a hot streak. Plus, you have one of the youngest squads in the league.

That's his MO........

he's a volume shooter.

lol Are you two crazy? OJ doesn't shoot enough! Dude took about 9 shots the first game. 11-21 is 50% for 29pts. That's efficient. He's not a volume shooter. He took 14 shots a game last season which isn't much at all for a talented shooting guard. He doesn't shoot anymore than his peers Rose, Westbrook, and Gordon. And except for Rose, Mayo is more efficient than the other two and has averaged more or just as many points. So if he's a volume shooter then so are they but somehow he's the only one who gets put into that category.

Oh and if OJ is a volume shooter, what do you call Rudy? This dude will jack up bad shots just to reach his mark.

Just came back from the mall. Glad to hear they kept pressing the issue and force their will on the Wolves. The team played well from start to finish. You have to against teams like the Wolves. You must take care of business on the home floor to keep the confidence and momentum on your side. Good game Grizz.

Relax, I didn't mean it in a bad way. OJ is a jump shooter and goes on hot and cold streaks. He was 6-17 last game, but was excellent tonight as you pointed out. I'm not suggesting he should have shot less, but he is a lot less explosive attacking the basket as a Westbrook or Rose. It's a different breed of player, and I was suggesting that he is going to need to take more shots in order to get on that streak.

As for Rudy, he is not immune to criticism either. He has made some poor decisions in year's past shooting the ball early in the clock. But, ITW was just pointing out a specific possession where Mayo made a mistake. Shooting early in the clock is a mistake regardless of who is shooting because it leads to run outs. I don't see how you can excuse anyone for that kind of play.

And ftr, most star jump shooters are volume shooters.

Rudy is a scorer and it shows in his stats and his perference for attacking the post. He isn't a good shooter. Otherwise he wouldn't be jackin up his shots to get his pts.

I thought O.J. showed more patience last year than thus far this year.

I guess he's being super aggressive to compensate for the injuries to the bigs. Good game from him and the Grizz nonetheless.

Screw being patient. I like aggressive OJ better. Patience is for suckas! lol

Seriously, I respected what he did last season. He took one for the team and deferred to Rudy and Zach, but in reality, OJ is every bit as good as those guys. If he got their touches, he'd score just as much if not more because he makes 3's. He's also a better playmaker than those two so I've always thought the ball should go through him more.

I don't like him being too patient. This game is a prime example of how much better the offense is when he's touching the ball and looking to do harm instead of being a spectator. When he's "patient," the Grizzlies offense is stagnant.

great win by the grizzs, two in a row. 2-1. this is the way to the playoffs. lets keep the team above the 50%.

how many wins reaches the 8th spot? i guess we will need about 44 at least.

last season you needed 50 for the 8th seed (Portland, OKC, SAS). I believe this will go down with the "POWER SHIFT" to the east. But right now would target that number.

If we can continue the way we are playing, we should make the 5-7 seed in the west. However, our lack of depth (especially at center) is still an obvious concern for me, and I wonder if that will hurt us by the end of the season.

I was going to wait until the Lakers game thread was posted but I thought I would share the story now.

So I'm watching the Lakers/Warriors game last night and the announcers are talking about the next game against the Grizzlies. One of them mentions the 22 steals against Minnesota and the other guy says it's only a big deal if your team wins the game, and then says the Timberwolves beat Memphis. There's a pause, then the guy says, "wait a minutes, didn't the Grizzlies win?"

Besides that later on the same guy says the Lakers are up by 20 points, 68 -45. You do the math. They sounded drunk all during the game. This was the FS broadcast. These were two of the worst announcers I've heard and I'm wondering if these are the same two who made the remark about Haddadi last season and were forced to appologize?

Naw man, it was the Clippers announcers that got in trouble. But I actually like that announcing team. They're generally not too homerish and are sometimes pretty funny (Haddadi comments aside).

The Golden State announcers on the other hand...it can be painful (and occasionally infuriating) to listen to. There's a lot of hate/homerism/general ignince goin on.
