What Players are attainable in an Andre Iguodala trade?

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Sun Oct 31, 2010 6:55 am

From what I've seen out of the sixers is that a defensive presence big man is needed. The Pistons have this same problem and honestly, there aren't many viable options. Really the only expendable impact big is Tyson Chandler. After him, its really only prospects like Deandre Jordan.

Other than big men, what are you guys looking to get out of a deal involving Iguodala? Cap Relief? Draft Picks? Prospects? Established Players? Who are the most likely trade partners?

I keep hearing rumors about the Bulls being the team and a straight up swap which makes no sense to me.

I was playing around with Trade Machine and came up with a couple:

1)
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=2cxte84 + Detroit 1st round pick no protection (end up with about 15mill of capspace to sign Perkins/Gasol/Horford next Summer)

2) Deng for AI straight up

3) Terrance Williams + Troy Murphy for AI

4) Biedrins + Wright for AI.

I'm not a big fan of any of those deals really. Maybe I have unrealistically high expectations for what we should get back from Iggy... but
1st- I guess I'd be fine with this if you dropped Noc and Charlie V. Considering we're taking back absolutely no talent, I don't see why we have to eat V's contract too. I think this makes Detroit a good team which makes thier pick not nearly as interesting.
2nd- yuck. I'd need some serious incentive to make AI -> Deng
3rd- I like TWill... but he's not a big and he can't shoot. Troy's not more than an expiring for us at this point.
4th- I like Biedrins but he's got serious injury history, I don't know that i take a chance on him unles Wright was changed to Udoh? maybe?...

While i think we NEED a big in an Iggy deal... I don't know that there are all that many available that would actually be worth it OR that we could land. (guys like Gasol/Noah/Horford are pretty much unattainable). So (imo) our best bet would be to land a project big, while getting something else we really need (shooting!).

I would love to do a 3 way with Denver/NJ. Where we turn Iggy/Speights(or Hawes) into Favors/Morrow/Filler. That gives us a legit shooter and a prospect big (who Den doesn't seem to be too high on).

Other deals that i think would be at least worth entertaining:
- Harden + Ilbaka (Aldrich?) (we add Speights?)
- Love (or Wes) +
- Mayo + Thabeet
- Batum + expiring/pick
- Aminu + Jordan +?

I would do this if you take out Nocioni and Villanueva. Not sure if that is a deal breaker. I do wonder why would Utah make this trade though?

Out of the defensive bigs that would seem to be available... I can't imagine Dre would be on the table. Chander/Gortat/whatever average player that can play a lick of D that is available would seem to be more in the Speights/Young range value-wise.

Iguodalas contract is the problem you can't trade him for anything but slop or somebody else's project which won't pan out. we are probably stuckwith him for at least two more years if we want a legitamite player in this league. I would definately trade him though and not have to get equal value because I believe in addition by subtraction.
1. Turner and Thad player more and though Iguodalas better he doesn't always play aggressive.
2. You get that precious cap relief.
3. Try to dump Brand while your at it. those contracts are going to keep us down forever get out while you can.
I wouldn't Say it if I thought I was wrong!

I'm still for trying to get Gortat. Orlando's living and dying by the 3, and they died by it vs the Heat the other night. I'd be willing to part with Louis Williams and Speights/Thad for him. That may be too much for some people, but I think it makes the 6ers more formidable. edit: realized after the post that had nothing to do with Iggy...but I think it's the best course.

Friday night at the Atlanta sixers game Dala clearly looked like the best player on the floor for either franchise.
Its quite evident that the pieces we have don't fit but I'm not sold on moving our best player
an Olympian unless we are getting a Stud player that fits back in the deal. However
I would be willing deal iggy and filler or pick
Ben Gordon filer pick
West Thornton
Noah. Deng

Kevin Love? Rambis is killing this guy and Wolves have cap space

Iguodala+Speights to Minny, and maybe Brewer also to Philly.

Very difficult but.. come on Rod! :)

I would be willing to include a top 10/7 or so protected pick for Love or Favors, both of those would fit really good and build a nice nucleus. As much as I hate trading picks, getting one core player is much better than 3 pieces of flotsam.

I would gladly take out CV and Noc in the first trade. I would see Utah doing it because they are dangerously close to the Luxury Tax and I think Rip compliments there system. He's turned into a black hole in Detroit. Why did you guys get rid of Daly?

The thing about Minny is they're overloaded with Wings. I'm not sure even Kahn would entertain a trade like that

If we could get Love or Mayo then that would be great. I doubt the grizz would trade OJ for Iggy seein how they already hav a better SF. Love for Iggy could happen but they just drafted WJohnson also.

I personally think Iggy is better than Gay, especially considering his contract.

IMO two trades that work reasonably is:

Love
Deng

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Joel Przybilla and Greg Oden will both be back in a couple of weeks for Portland. With Camby and Aldridge already in place Przybilla is expendable. Portland doesn't really need Iguodala with Batum and Matthews already playing such a role the Blazers don't need Iggy (I'm not suggesting Przybilla is close to being worth the same as Iguodala) and perhaps a 3-way could be worked out.

Just to throw one more trade around, I think the Clippers could offer a good package. They said they didn't want Iggy in the summer, but they could change their mind since he would be a nice fit. They could offer combinations of Deandre Jordan, Aminu, the wolves 2012 unprotected pick, or a TPE.

WE just need a big. I am all for trading either Thad/Hawes, and or Iggy for a good young big. I really want Gortat. Oden would be nice also. Love i am ok with too.

Yeah Kevin Love is a nice option and would be a great compliment for Brand.
