Who has been most disappointing thus far?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Fri Oct 29, 2010 11:01 pm

The clear choices have to be Jefferson and Dwill because they are playing poorly. I am a huge AK-47 fan but watching him and Raja Bell hoist outside shots are making me cringe. They are both below par outside shooters and need to stop shooting and just concentrate on cutting to the basket and playing D. Hayward is a streak shooter, and the the two games streak is bad. DWILL is full of himself is not working hard. Jefferson is simply stupid and cant pick up the offense. I wonder if he even knows how to pass out of the double team. Millsap has been out best player thus far. Miles is a foul and air ball per minute played. Miles need to play well for this team to succeed.

All in all when it hits the fan, the one thing that gives me heart burn is watching Ak-47 and Raja chuck 3s bc those guys cant shoot even if wide open shots. We dont miss Boozer, but we miss Korver and injured Memo.

This team better start running the ball on every play because no one can catch and shoot in the half court offense on this team.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I would say AK has been one of the only bright spots thus far so I don't get how he is a disappointment...but whatever. Opinions are opinions.

I would say without question Deron and CJ have been the most disappointing with Raja and Jefferson close behind.

AK is rather disappointing because he's the spark that we need in the start of games with his activity and his efficiency. He's struggling in that aspect.

But, rather than point the finger to AK, I'd say D-Will. He looks to defer more at the start of games. It's understandable, but the outburst in the Phoenix game just led me to think he doesn't know what he's doing.

Deron, no question. He has to be the rock for this team, or nothing will ever happen. He's got to prove he deserves the accolades he has been getting.

For me its Deron. At what point do we have to just concede that Deron is a great player...and a bad leader? I'm a D-Will fan, but I really don't think this team is capable of winning a championship as long as Deron is our #1 guy. He just doesn't have the temperament to put a team on his shoulders and carry them to greatness. Chewing out the rookie while giving CJ and AK a pass shows that he's really just a bully, not a leader. If you are going to cuss someone out for doing it wrong, then you better be doing it right, and he's been off his game as much as anyone else on the team. At least Hayward has been busting his butt and playing with energy. You can't say the same for Deron.

That being said, he's not totally wrong either. Its painfully obvious that this team has no clue what they are doing on either end of the floor. The spacing on the floor has been terrible. If I see Millsap and AK run a cut and drag their defender right into Jefferson's space one more time, I'm likely to throw the remote through the TV.

As much love as everyone has given Sloan recently, so far, this is just a bad coaching job. His team doesn't look at all prepared to play, and his unwillingness to simplify things until the new guys get it is looking like a disaster.

All that being said, though, the Jazz are trying to integrate 6 new guys into their rotation. Its no wonder they look confused. We all just need to be patient and let the ship right itself. Give them a month or two, and they could be scary good.

You just can't blame D-Will when he's playing with guys who can't run the offense to perfection. It's Jefferson.

Jefferson doesn't understand the offense completely and seems lost quite often. He always heads to the left block which clogs the lane which our 2 and 3 run through. Boozer used to come in at the top of the key and then fall into the block depending on the call. He needs time to learn the system and should come off the bench until he gets it down. We need to be able to develop the offense and get some plays going so we are not in a hole immediately.

Miles defense is horrid at best. He was a good defender in the playoffs but does not seem to be moving his feet quick enough to cut off the lane. A lot of reaching fouls.

Start Dwill, Bell, AK, Sap, Fes. Fesenko isn't the greatest yet but he is showing spark and seems to move within the offense most the time. Bring in Big Al as the 6th man and CJ as the 7th for Sap and Fes, AK would move to the 4. So half way through the 1st you have a Dwill, Bell, CJ, AK, Big Al lineup. Next you bring in DWill's back up (watson or price), before the first quarter ends, for Bell, Dwill stays in at the 2 to keep the offense moving. Watson, Dwill, CJ, AK, Big Al.

Hayward is showing some things I like, but he shouldn't be the 2nd man off the bench. He will be fine once he doesn't have to think to run the offense.

Evans hasn't played much so I can't tell if he knows the offense or not. One thing is he hustles all the time, and right now that could be used when they are struggling.

Just my thoughts on who is doing well and who is not and what I feel could speed up the process of fixing it....

Miles has been a huge disappointment for me, but you can see he's really forcing things when he comes in. It's obvious he realizes there's a lot of expectations on him as the 6th man and it's gotten in his head.

Jefferson hasn't played great, but I can see the potential and I think he'll be pretty damn impressive when he gets in the flow and understands the system. His defense is pretty bad, but his defensive upside when compared to Boozer is that Jefferson *tries* to play defense whereas Booz just flapped his arms in the general direction of any driving opposing player.

D-Will for me is the biggest disappointment after the first two games. I've finally just accepted that he's always going to turn the ball over, that's not going to change. But his passiveness and poor leadership skills have really come to the fore.

I wasn't a big fan of the Hayward pick, but so far I like his effort and heart. His shot will come and so will his understanding of where to be on the floor at any given time. I think at some point we're going to be very happy we picked him.

I'm a Sloan guy for the most part, but I've also been disappointed because he doesn't seem to have the fire anymore. When the team plays as bad as they have so far I want to see him tear some new a-holes, instead of just sitting there with his mouth open.

Miles is easily #1 on this list. AK has sucked, but Miles has sucked on epic sort of levels.

Deron needs to show that he is optimistic and believes in the team. Negativity spreads quickly and affects play; his freakouts aren't helping anyone. If he's frustrated with his personal life and/or personal performance in games, don't take it out on everyone else.

Deron Williams. It's not even debatable. And that bitching scene on Hayward was in fact the result of his self awareness about that.

The thread's question ends "thus far." No one's saying the season's over, just that it's off to a hugely disappointing start, mostly on account of our star's attitude and performance.

It's super critical to call out AJ, but he has been a little tentative. I'm sure that will change within a game or two.

I don't put the blame on DW. Its his job to get this group in a groove and taking over games will hurt us in the long run. He does need to focus on getting AJ the ball in the post more and working the P&R.

I think the award goes to CJ. This is his time to shine and he has stunk... but with that said... it's been two games. Nobody should be handing out awards for two games. Let's bring this thread back after 20 games.

Miles' been really bad, but I think he was not expeted to be THE MAN of this team.
On the other hand, Williams was expected to be THE MAN... and he's been playing as crappy an anyone...
