Was a miserable game all around for Maxie. I'm sure the rain didn't help things. I agree with a commenter that Cards don't have Hall working out of the pocket where he is most effective.

He is a rookie but way the cards are running the offense is making if very difficult for him or any QB to get momentum going. Cards need to let him play like Max Hall.

Hall just doesn't have the arm to be a NFL starting QB in my book. His ceiling is Chad Pennington - accurate passer but unable to throw more than 20 yards without the ball looking like a wounded bird.

I've seen strong 50 yard passes from him at BYU. You want floaters when a receiver is trying to stay in front of a defender who is covering him. If you rifle it you chance an interception or the receiver missing it.

I too wonder about his arm strength. Not neccasarily throwing bombs but his ability to throw 15-20 yards lasers to recievers in tight coverage.

If he continues to struggle we might have to trade up and draft a QB. The free agent QB is weak this summer. Skelton is a major project and we be ready for years. He had accuracy issues at Forham!

Really no exciting alternatives to Hall out there. I haven't given up on him yet.

I'd like to have a QB who can do both. If Hall had some wheels, I could over look somethings but he doesn't. I worried about his health against the Seahawks, he sure is taking some nasty hits.

He holds onto the ball too long and the O-line iss awful. Lethal combination there. 6 of our next 7 are indoors that will def help him. In Seattle his ball was not crisp. There was talk he might go the glove route like Kurt did. Who knows.

He should be working out of the pocket rather then standing because the line has some serious holes.

For some reason I'm not worried yet because the Cards woes doesn't come down to a single player.

I'm with you on your sentiments here. Next week is going to be a critical point in the early season. It should set the tone.

BTW, would anyone else want a game thread? (next week of course)

Looks like the Cards may have Hall working out of the pocket more as Somers report they are drafting new offensive plays for Hall:

The Cardinals are paring the offensive game plan this week in order to help Hall. "I think we're going to kind of simplify things a little bit," Hall said, "eliminate some of the thinking so I can just go play. The game plan we've installed so far this week is really good. I like it, feel comfortable with it."

I would hope that the said plan incorporates blocking in some form. :P

What's the distinction?

I like Hall and wanted him to be the guy but he's just not an NFL QB. He can't read defense and defenses know that. His arm isn't strong enough to make those across-the-field-throws. He's just a career backup. We all overhyped him big time.

So you're suggesting that with experience, he might be?

Yep and a more efficient line and better designed play calling from Whiz. Not saying that will turn Hall into a great player but will make a big difference in accurately evaluating him.
