How's Livingston?

Post#1 » by dlts20 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 1:59 pm

You might remember me as the Wiz fan who made that long post giving Shaun a ton of props after you signed him. So far Ive heard some bad things after his 1st game, his stats looked just as bad in game 2, but in game 3 he seemed to do better although his stats were pretty modest so maybe thats how low my expectations are for him right now.

I think you have to cut him some slack since he missed so much time. He's definitely working off rust. However, I want someone to tell me how he fits in with your system. If you remember right, I said that he would be a monster in NY but on your team Im not sure because you guys stay more in the halfcourt & play a slow down style instead of the uptempo style that Shaun would thrive in.

So far Ive only seen like 2min of him in your 2nd game and in those 2min I was upset because he didnt seem like a PG. He just seemed like a guy who brought the ball up the court. As soon as he brought it up, he did a basic pass every single time and then you guys just made it like a 5 man Offense and he's then like a spot up shooter. I thought it was weird. I was wondering why Larry wouldnt keep the ball in his hands and let him create for others.

Again though, I only saw a couple of minutes so I might not know what the hell Im talking about. Shaun should get better every game as he knocks off the rust but I still would like to see Larry let him have the ball in his hands more and play a more uptempo style of basketball when you have guys like Wallace & Thomas on the floor with him

No, you pretty much nailed it. It would appear that our offense this season will consist of our PG bringing the ball up over the time line then handing it off to either Jax or Boris then getting the hell out of the way.

You can thank Larry Brown for that little gem.

yup... shaun was pretty much working like a small forward for most of the time he's on the floor. he made a beautiful bounce pass to wallace for a dunk last night and has made a few nice post ups, but thats about it.

i really have no idea what LB is trying to accomplish right now on offense. we have no identity.

Yeah, like fats and Slam said,LB's not using him like a pg, so the potential of what he can do is not realised and probably never will be in this offensive system.Defensively he's not as quick as he used to be but he makes up for it with this length (6'7)- arms, legs and all.
He will come around though, take my word for it.I know people are skeptical about him now, fair enough, but i see him becoming more prominent around end of December.
What i do love about Livs though is that he can post up just about any guard he wants. He's nice with the post game.

Be better if he actually had some post moves though. He might, we just haven't seen them yet. He tends to try and shoot that fade away jump shot - which hasn't been dropping for him.

I'd love to see him use some drop steps and some up and unders if LB insists on trying to make him a scorer (which I don't think he is)

He has some post moves. Not McHale, but on par with Jack

If I was coaching, I think the biggest play I would call would be posting up Jax and possibly Livingston if he can score from the post. They will often have a size advantage and will hopefully draw the double team.

The biggest issue then would be forcing Jax to make the right pass.
Maybe you could bribe him with booze.

seems to be doing a little better but IDK for sure. Do you think he fits with you guys or not? I would love to have him back here on the Wiz. I would love to do a Livingston for Hinrich trade. Hinrich's played really well but when you have Wall & Arenas, you would rather have the 3rd guy to have more size
