Week 9 Lead Up: Cowgirls

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Nov 1, 2010 3:39 pm

For some reason I'm very worried about this game.

I believe we don't have to make a decision on our 3 PUP guys until after this week and if that's the case all 3 probably sit out with the bye week looming. Probably sit Pickett out another week too. Have him 100% for the stretch. Probably Driver too.

Last year we struggled to 4-4 and then went on a rampage. This year we are 5-3 and in first place. After the bye we have 4 of 5 on the road, including at Atlanta and at New England (who I actually don't think are all that good).

Absolutely cannot have a letdown. If Jacksonville can score 30+ in Dallas our offense absolutely has to roll this week.

Chicago is at Buffalo, certainly the Bills can win that game. Queens get Derek Anderson and the Cards.

CANNOT LOSE THIS GAME.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

We have to make a decision on the 3 PUP guys 3 weeks after they started practicing. So that makes it a week from today or tomorrow, I don't remember the practice schedule but we do indeed to get to wait until after this game to decide but we don't get to wait through the bye week even though they will get that additional time to get back into game shape and prepare.

I'd sit everyone that needs it to give them an extra week of rest.

This is a good test of the teams mentality. They have a team that APPEARS done coming in, with the bye week looming. A loss shows we think we're better than we are, because if we play hard and focused, there is no way we should lose to the Kitna led Cowboys. They just got ROLLED at home by the Jags.

A lot of our guys have plane tickets out of town on Monday after their meetings. Let's hope they are focusing on Dallas and not on their vacation. We played Dallas in game 9 last year and it was a turning point game. We need to stay focused and this is a win.

I was reading a Cowboys forum. They really blow.

Here are some excerpts:

After what Garrard did today, I'm sure Rodgers will pick us apart. What's the over/under on how many yards he throws against our pathetic secondary?

Rogers is going to humiliate our D.

He beat our D when we were good, just imagine what he'll do when we're bad.

I think Rogers throws for 350 and 4 TDs

400+ yards...easily

they're more then likely going to be successful running the ball as well.

Packers 42
Boys 13

Rodgers will set the all time record with 600 yards passing.

I think if they wanted to get 600 yds passing, they could. I honestly think we are THAT bad right now.

300 yards passing and 200 running. How many TDs will just depend on whether they'd rather pad the passing stats or the rushing stats.

That all-Pro Green Bay line will tool us.

I'd be shocked if we hold them under 40.

 @ those, especially the 200 yards rushing. Yeah Im sure.

Even moreso  @ them thinking our offense is good.

They obviously haven't watched our offense this year. :)

Still funny though.

Wow, Dallas is 30th in yards per passing attempt allowed (8.0), 27th in completion percentage allowed (65.8), 30th in QB rating allowed (105.4), 19th in sacks (16) but only 9th in yards per game allowed (207). That's a weird combination of numbers.

They are also giving up 4.5 yards per carry (23rd) and are 27th in PPG allowed (26.7).

Can our offense finally break out?

Let's hope we can break out.

Aaron Rodgers has to be the disappointment of the year for pretty much the entire NFL I would think. He hasn't even been playing like a top 10 QB this season, much less the MVP candidate everyone thought he would be.

I'm also nervous about this game.

I would also play Harris at least. I'd like to see both Harris and Bigby get at least some game action before the Vikings game.

Harris should be the dime for a week or two and they can take it from there, and it's going to take a bad game from Peprah for Bigby to get a chance at getting his job back. Peprah has played pretty well.

Bigby won't start a game for the Packers ever again is my prediction. Peprah is playing too well.

This has all the makings of a letdown game. Add in the fact that our team usually thinks they are better than they really are + MM's playcalling. I can see the cowgirls really amped up for a national game to not get embarrassed.

No reason we shouldn't win. Cowboys are more than bad. They don't care and they have a coach who can't do anything about it. The only thing I'm worried about is Dez Bryant on special teams.

Good point about getting Harris some PT. Like to see how he does and then give him 2 weeks before the Queens game when we will really need him. Good point about Bigby too, Peppy was great yesterday, Bigby gives us some depth the rest of this season but right now we don't need him.

The Cowboys have quit. Even if we tone it down a little bit, I still think we'd win. Our offense absolutely has to get back on track next week.

At least there's only one more after this game and at least it's a Sunday. I hate having to wait until Monday night for games.

~ The two major injuries the team is dealing with right now is Donald Driver wih the quad strain. He may miss practice time. "He’s had actually two separate injuries to his quad. He initially had a quad bruise and then had a quad strain on top of it. Donald’s a fighter."

He is hoping time off with help Driver. "We felt that giving him the time off this week he’d be able to play in the game. He pushed through it last week but was unable to get through the Jet game yesterday. We’ll probably take a little more cautious approach with him this week."

Patrick Lee had an ankle sprain" and I don’t think he’ll be able to practice. He’s probably going to be for the game."

Also, Andrew Quarless had a shoulder sprain. "They’re actually doing some more testing on him now. Dr. McKenzie didn’t seem very concerned about it, but I don’t have all the information right now."

Other soundbites:

~ "We just were not very fundamentally sound as an offense. ... We felt that we just weren’t very sharp, whether it was finishing blocks, certain reads, depth of routes and so forth. We need to get back to just playing football the right way and not worrying about what the other side’s doing. Made it very loud and clear in the Wednesday team meeting, trust the film. Don’t believe the hype."

~ "You need to stack success."

~ "To go into their house, magnificent stadium, on the big stage and to win that game, that’s definitely a big shot of confidence you can carry forward. There’s no question about it. But it’s no different. You need to use it properly. No one picked us to win the game, and I think that stuff’s great, and if it helps motivate our guys, super."

~ On Dallas: "We’re fully anticipating a very motivated Dallas team coming in here Sunday night."

~ On offense, Green Bay's 9 points is the fewest in a road win since 1954, when the Packers won 7-6 vs. the Colts under head coach Lisle Blackbourn.

But Green Bay's defense pitched a shutout, the first in the NFL this year. "That it’s the first shutout of the year in the National Football League. It’s the first shutout on the road for the Green Bay Packers since 1991. I think anytime you can say you did something that hasn’t happened for 20 years for the Green Bay Packers, that’s obviously significant. But we’re a damn good run defense. We led the league in run defense last year. We’ve been working through some combinations because of the injuries up front. We’ve been challenged particularly the last two weeks against Miami and Minnesota with them running the football, and that was our focus. Our focus was to go into that game and stop their run game."

~ On P Tim Masthay: "The punting performance is the finest punting – I can’t tell you how good this feels to say this – this is the finest punting performance I’ve – I’m not exaggerating, I’m not dramatic – the finest punting performance that I’ve ever been a part of in all my years on both sides of the ball. I can’t tell you how happy I am for Tim. It makes me want to cry. I thought he was tremendous. That was, you talk about a field-position game. I thought that was remarkable. He just needs to do it every week now and we’ll be fine."

~ He has until "Monday after the Dallas game" to determine what to do with PUP players Al Harris, Atari Bigby and James Starks.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It almost sounds like he had a religious epiphany regarding what good special teams play can do for the team.
