Horford Off the Market
With Horford now signed who do we target now? I wouldn't mind going after Mark Gasol but I'm sure Memphis will do everything in their power to bring him back.

Re: Horford Off the Market
If we signed Marc Gasol, would he be our PF? A 7' PF?
As for Carl Landry, would we be giving up on Tyler???

7' PF sounds good to me. We'd have a lot of size up front...probably won't happen tho.

Re: Horford Off the Market
Realistically, we would have never had a shot at Horford.

Gasol, unfortunately, is not much of a PF. His brother has the skillset, but Marc is much closer to a true C.

Re: Horford Off the Market
Carl Landry and Jeff Green both sound solid, I would add David West to that list too. pretty positive he is a FA right? Those 3 should be our target, if we cannot get a young prospect through trading expirings this season.
Nene, Jonas Jerebko, Brandon Wright, Craig Smith, Zach Randolph, Mbah a Moute, Nick Collison, Thaddeus Young, Dante Cunningham, Greg Oden, Julian Wright, and Yi Jianlin are all second-tier players who could be of interest if they have a good season/seem like a bargain...

How much do you think he got? I am guessing 4yr 80 mill, which is probably his market.

Re: Horford Off the Market
Wow, his agent didn't do a very good job. Doesn't Josh Smith make just a bit more? Not too mention JJ makes double what he makes.
Al Horford did them a favor.
I'd give that to Hibbert right now.

Looks like he gave Atlanta a bit of a discount, as I think he makes at least 10 million more on the open market.

Re: Horford Off the Market
There are possible bonuses that could push it up to 68M over 5 years. It's actually slightly higher than Josh Smith got.

Re: Horford Off the Market
It doesn't surprise me that the Hawks would keep him. The question for the Hawks is will they keep playing Horford as the center? Or they may trying to deal Josh Smith or Marvin Williams.
Josh Smith would be a nice fit for us, but I think the Hawks would rather to go after a center, such as Dalembert than just a first round pick and cap space, which the Pacers can give the most.

Re: Horford Off the Market
Jeff Green I think would be a nice fit for us. He's pretty undersized at PF because of Durant at OKC's 3, but still manages to get about 6 boards a game and he's very athletic...can't have too much of that. Plus, he's normally pretty solid at shooting 3's (struggling so far this year), but he's like Murph was in that respect. And now that Big Roy is getting better on offense by the minute, giving Roy more room to work in the post would be great (something Psycho T, Solo, and McBob don't do quite as well.)
I think Landry is pretty underrated. From what I've gathered, he's not quite the spark plug Psycho T is, but he's got a better offensive arsenal. David West I think is restricted like Horford would've been. So we might have to overpay to get him to come to a smaller-market team AND to make sure New Orleans don't lose him (to keep Paul as happy as possible.)
Craig Smith is somewhat a poor man's Green. A little undersized and not as great a shooter. Of that list, I like Nene and believe it or not - Oden. Nene is a PF/C combo big and can play either when called upon. Nice for when Roy goes out and Nene is a nice defensive presence. Oden, we all know his story. He wouldn't be required to play as much as a backup to Hibbert and could give him time to groom (especially if we were to re-sign Foster to a hometown discount.) Plus, he might be on a longer leash being the hometown guy and all. If he can stay healthy, we've seen what he's capable of. Subbing out Roy for another 7-footer? Nice!
Randolph? Eh, to me. Not a willing passer and Indy already has a lot of offense. Plus, he's ran into some trouble with the law on occasion and the Pacers have done such a good job of finally shaking the remnants of the brawl, I'd hate for Z-Bo to F that up.
But I think Green is just barely out of too-superstar-to-resign-with-a-small-market-team kind of player territory. McBob can play the 5, so a rotation of bigs that could potentially include Roy, McBob, Jeff Green/David West/Carl Landry, and Psycho T? I'm sold!

Re: Horford Off the Market
So apparently Memphis decided to throw a wad of cash at Conley, which might open a couple oroptions up. Anyone think Gasol or Mayo are attainable now? I doubt they can keep that group together (let's not forget Randolph is off contract too), so are we an option?

I'd love to have Mayo, perhaps we can trade wingmen for a great big. Mayo would be great.

Re: Horford Off the Market
I have no idea how well Gasol can play PF, although I don't think he has the polish like Pau to do so. He might be okay next to Hibbert, but I think we would lack a lot of speed in the frontcourt. Mayo is a better guy to go after.
