With three games down, I am surprised by two stats regarding Gibson,
1. he is shooting 40% from the floor
2. he is averaging 6.0 assists with a 4.5/1 assist to turnover ratio
I think it should be obvious that his shooting percentages will bounce back, but what about the assists? He has been pegged as a SG in a point guard's body, but can he really be a legit play maker? He seems to be pretty dedicated to improving his game, so with that being said, what is Gibson's ceiling at this point?

Booby is probably the Cavs' best defensive guard. I don't want to throw out Billups' name but I think Booby can become a late bloomer similar to Chauncey. With LeBron gone he is finally being given some ballhandling duties.

I like Boobie. He has a star's mentality in terms of his mental toughness and willingness to take and make pressure shots.
I think his ceiling is a high level role player though.

I was interested to see you not mention Billups. Billups was a scorer when he came into the league, and had to work on his play making skills. I think Gibson is capable of hitting big shots, and also capable of being an average to above average defender. I still see the play making aspect being the overshadowing question mark in his game, but I suppose only time will tell. Statistically, I see no reason why Gibson can not get to Chauncey's peak, ~18/7/4 on 43% shooting, 40% from behind the arc, but what does the box score leave out that could potentially separate the two? I suppose one could say that Billups teammates helped him to elevate his game? I also think Byron Scott thinks highly of Gibson, and could potentially turn him into our starting PG.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Re: Daniel Gibson's Ceiling?
Sorry guys I see alot of the same old same old except for a couple of games. I think Boobie is playing harder but the 3 point percentage is off bigtime. Boobie still concerns me. I want to see more of Manny Harris. This kid looks very solid.
Don't get me wrong, Boobie has improved his game but in crunch time his long range shot looks bad. Except for the game against Sac and the fourth quarter against Boston, he has not impressed me. I hope I'm wrong.
Good luck Boobie I wish you the best

Boobie isn't a late bloomer. He was just **** by Mike Brown.

Re: Daniel Gibson's Ceiling?
I think Gibson has obviously been an underutilized asset. For some reason that has been the MO for Cavs coaches. Shannon Brown, Daniel Gibson, and JJ Hickson until recently have gotten the shaft. I think it shows you the impact of a good coach like Byron Scott. I still feel it was a coup to land him.
I'm excited to see if Eyenga, Harris, and Samuels can develop as the season progresses. The Cavs may turn out to have a pretty good young nucleus. Add in a possible top 5 pick next year, the TPE, and Jamison's contract that will be expiring and the Cavs have a chance to make some real moves. Every night won't be pretty, but I am happy with the effort of this teams. Go Cavs!!

Shannon still plays better for Lakers than he did for us. But obviously doesn't even serve as backup PG for them, lol.

So how long are outsiders going to continue to deny that Daniel Gibson has any ceiling? Another double digit game last night. He's going to be huge contributor this season.

Re: Daniel Gibson's Ceiling?
90% of the posters on this site are pretty much morons who don't really pay attention to much outside of the box score. I never quite understood why GIbson wasn't getting more playing time even last year when I questioned his ability to handle the ball well enough to play point. He's still not great but he's gotten significantly better and it shows with his ability to get in the lane which has improved his overall game.

Re: Daniel Gibson's Ceiling?
There is no doubt Gibson is playing even better when Mo is on the court (taking a lot of the heat). Just remeber who he played against the last two games. Not much: to lottery teams.
But I do like the improvement. As long has he stays confident with this shot he will be fine.
By the way, all the time Moon played above the rim last year I thought he would be more than a defense minded three point shooter. Is he just too much a lightweight to go inside? He does have some mad hops. The reason Graham is getting a look is due to the poor play of Moon and Jawad both. I'm a little disappointed in Moon so far.
I don't get it. Coach has had a positive effect on everyone except those two. Everyone else has stepped up their game. Thoughts on why the small forward position has suffered?
Even the bench points are way up.
