Jets sign RB Woodhead

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead, the NCAA's career rushing leader, signed a free-agent deal with the New York Jets on Sunday night, according to his agent.
Chris Gittings said he and Woodhead thought the Jets were a good fit after teams passed on the 5-foot-7 1/2 running back during the draft, mostly because of his size.
Woodhead ran for 7,962 yards in four seasons for Division II Chadron State in western Nebraska.
Terms of the deal for the two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner were not immediately disclosed, and the Jets would not confirm the signing.

Saw this kid on ESPN, great story.

Yeah saw the ESPN interview. I don't know though...being only 5'7.5 (listed as 5'9") is going to be tough on him. Also the Jets already kind of have a short lightning quick RB/return guy in Leon Washington and I'd doubt Moorehead is anywhere near close to Washington (or he'd have been drafted).

PS: Anyone draft that army guy?

He will be one of those intangible special team players that every team needs. Granted I dont know much about him aside from what ESPN showed today, he seems like a genuine kid who is hungry to make a team.

Yep Caulcrick is a big ol' strong FB that can take a hit and keep going. Got some Earl Cambell sized thighs that keep him upright and going despite getting hit (again and again). Not the fastest guy but when you need some short yardage, he's a great option...extremely tough guy to take down (as you'll see especially in that 2nd video where in one clip 5 guys tried and failed to take him down).

This is a closer set of clips...Caulcrick is the "Thunder" portion of the Spartans "Thunder & Lightning" RB duo. He's number 30.

And interesting note is that Caulcrick was born on Libera and he and his family were in some really unfriendly situations growing up (refugee camps and what not).
