Today's NFL waiver wire may feature Randy Moss and Shawne Merriman: 10 Pro Bowls between them. Things change...

Merriman easily. I'd claim him regardless, he's better than what we have opposite Matthews.

Merriman and it's not even close... Considering I don't even want Moss.

I could see the Bears claiming Merriman just to block or something. Even though he's not a 4-3 guy.

Eh, nevermind. Maybe we've got a shot.

Of the two I'd prefer Merriman, but I still think Ted should consider Moss.

Does anyone know if Merriman has ANYTHING left? I really doubt it.

I don't think anyone really knows, but with Jones going down for the year we could definitely use some help at OLB.

Agreed. He has to be better than what we have at the end of our bench at linebacker and he'll be playing with a chip on his shoulder wherever he goes.

He hasn't done anything since he's been off the juice. No thanks.

True, but the alternatives are Frank Zombo and nothing else at OLB. We don't even have Jones or Poppinga, both who are also inadequate starters.

I would definitely take a flier on Merriman... even if he has nothing left there is no real harm in trying. He really hasn't been the same player since the suspension for the HGH or whatever he got caught using...

When are the waiver claims announced? Sometime tomorrow I'm assuming?

Merriman isn't very good anymore. Moss.

Yeah TT can tell him he has the chance to help a possible contender and next yr we plan the Chargers and he can get revenge...actually that is if he was under contract or we signed him next yr lol

Totally true.
Zombo playing well.
Walden has potential.

Still... I sign him if he accepts being on a short leash.

Moss = same - he won't.

Merriman, no question. Woodson was once considered done too. If we have the chance to grab him, which i highly doubt will even be possible, we should take him.

I honestly think Moss brings more to the table than Shawne does. Moss can still do what he does at an elite level, Merriman can't. I understand our depth at LB is in worse shape than our WR depth... but our defense just shut out the NY Jets. Our pressure on the QB hasn't been great from the OLB opposite Matthews, but I really don't think Merriman changes that.

I say rent Moss to jumpstart our offense and draft any of Von Miller, Jeremy Beal, Justin Houston or Akeem Ayers to play alongside Clay.

Woodson broke his leg right before coming to GB, and Merriman's leg has been his trouble as well. And he had a pro bowl year in '07, with 12.5 sacks, after all his HGH/steroids issues. Go get him.
