OT: NBA Fantasy Trade Opinion

Post#1 » by Miirk » Tue Nov 2, 2010 2:53 pm

Hey guys,

So I know you guys all love your ball and probably have your own fantasy teams, but I am an over-thinker and want to hear some of your opinions on this trade I might make, aka would you make this trade? lol

Giving up:
Dirk Nowitzki
Dorrell Wright (filler, more or less)

Receiving:
Danny Granger
Kevin Martin

What do you guys think? Thanks!

IBTL.

Tough to trade Dirk. He's such a consistent fantasy player. Also, Dirk almost never gets injured (knock on wood) and both Granger and Martin are more injury prone.

I personally wouldn't. Granger is injury prone and Dirk is just so consistent as the poster above mentioned. Also Dorrell Wright has been better than Kevin Martin so far.

Disco Dirk is a top 10 fantasy player. My personal philosophy is you never give one of those guys up unless you are getting one back. Is this year Granger becomes one? That's what you are betting on. Personally I would keep Dirk. He kills as a bigman by being able to hit his free throw and making 3's.

Depends on my team, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Granger is somewhat injury prone, but that's a risk you have to take if you want to win it all.

I also have Bosh, Odom, Taj Gibson, Wall, Billups, Nene, JR Smith :banghead: , delfino, maggette..so i needed more pts and 3's which i would be getting more out of with these 2 than dirk..

I also got a trade offer of Melo for my John Wall and Delfino...what do you guys think about that trade?

thanks!

Dorell Wright has been killing it.....try to use another filler and I'd do it......either JR, Taj Gibson, Delfino, or Maggette....pick the one that's most expendable. This would depend on your needs, and whether your playing H2H or Roto.

The main reason why I say this is because IMO Dirk is terribly overrated for fantasy. I'd take Granger over him straight up, even with injury concerns. If you have a playoff format, it only matters who plays in the final 4 weeks or so of the season.

I really like the way Granger has been playing so far. Regardless, until he proves otherwise he's very injury prone and cannot be fully trusted as your top player. Dorell is putting up solid all around stats as a starter for Golden State.

So I would stick with Dirk...At least you know he's consistant and isn't much of an injury risk. Now if he sweetens the pot with a better player than Martin then maybe I would consider it.

Granger's average stats have been top 10 for the past 2 years thanks to his ability to hit 2+ 3's a game and his +2 in steals +blocks. Averaging 25 and 5 rebs with good ft% also helps.

Its hard to tell if I would make this trade without knowing your full roster make up. You're giving up rebs and you will see a big dip in fg%.

Melo has more value than Wall and Delfino is an end of roster type of player. So I would take Melo...

depends what categories you're competitive/weak in

if you need the points, the trade's decent for you. i'd opt for someone over than kevin martin though. even in pretty deep leagues, you can pick up near his stats in waivers/FAs

as for melo vs wall/delfino, i wouldn't do it. delfino played better than expected but he's losing his starting job to fields? can't remember lol. but he has very minimal value right now unless you desperately need the 3s.

I wouldn't do it, Granger and Martin always get hurt.

Wright is in Golden State. Golden State is heaven for fantasy teams. Their players always put up awesome numbers.
